This is one of the summer holiday releases that I get truly excited about! And this year is no disappointment. I have been testing out the new limited edition bronzing powder from La Mer Soleil de La Mer 2020 collection and I love it! I have photos and swatches right here for you. Also new for summer 2020 is The Perfecting Primer which I have details of too.
I love La Mer makeup and the summer bronzers really are excellent. I am still using one from a few of years back every now and then. It’s the one that came in a huge compact and is a briilliant one to travel with.
Just a little warning, the bronzer is selling out fast! Find it now at:
In case you missed my posts, there are two other new elements to the La Mer Skincolour collection which I am absolutely loving:

- Formulated with La Mer’s Miracle Broth
La Mer Bronzing Powder 2020 Swatches
To be completely honest, the bronzer was almost too pretty to touch but I forced myself to do it!! The presentation is pretty special isn’t it? The powder features a combination of a highlighter and bronzer along with a blush shade for a super glowy result.
The bronzer is a beautiful tone, warm without being orange on my skin. I love it. Although the colours are tricky to access with a brush on their own, the way the pan is laid out, you can actually bronze, highlight and blush in one sweep if you swipe rather than swirl.
You can use small brushes to get to the colours individually, or use a large fluffy brush and swirl all over the pan. When you mix them together you get a much warmer result.
I love the shade of the highlight – it is a very beautiful soft gold and it lights up the complexion beautifully and works really well with the bronzer shade on my skin tone. Here’s the full bronzer look on top of the Perfecting Primer (see below) and the Soft Moisture Powder Foundation (review here).
The blush shade is so pretty! It is perfect for pale skin tones, and when mixed into the bronzer and highlighter warms everything up quite a lot.
The texture is gorgeous. The bronzer is slightly softer than the highlight, so you can be sure that you never go overboard on the glow by picking up too much product. The powder itself is infused with La Mer’s nutrient-rich Miracle Broth for treatment benefits.
It gives the skin soft warmth and a beautiful glow. If you love soft, skin flattering bronzey tones, you will adore this. It’s enhances the complexion beautifully and leaves a soft feel on the skin. Love it.
I am a big fan of the packaging. The compact is a peachy, coppery gold – it is absolutley beautiful. I just want to show it off. It’s also sleek with a good-sized mirror, so it will be great for being out and about. Although don’t drop it because the outer packaging warns that it’s delicate!

What is the La Mer The Perfecting Primer?
First of all, I believe that the La Mer Perfecting Primer aims to take the place of the Perfecting Treatment, which I think has been discontinued. I was quite a fan of that product, however, it came in a big pot that had a tendency to get a bit messy. This tube packaging with a pump is a big improvement.
- Hydrating primer instantly blurs imperfections
- Creates a fresh, soft-focus effect and ultra-smooth canvas for makeup
- Can be used under makeup or alone
- Used alone, this promises to improve the look of tone, texture and translucency
- Soft, silky texture
- Hydrates and plumps the skin
- Ideal for any skin tone
Key Ingredients of the La Mer Perfecting Primer
The formula uses La Mer’s famed Miracle Broth for it’s soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits. The texture feels instantly refreshing and calming on the skin – it’s a really lovely product to apply.
The pimer also contains the Flawless Ferment which is the brand’s new and potent new marine-infused ferment which uses ‘skin-polishing perfecters’ to instantly enhance the skin’s appearance. It also includes Rose Algae which is in there to smooth the look of lines and soften any imperfections.
Before & After – The Perfecting Primer
I just wanted to show you how this looks on my bare skin.
I think it does a lovely job on pores, and is certainly very smoothing and perfecting. I think it is pretty hard at the moment to test how it performs in terms of increasing foundation wear time – mainly because life is just so different now. However, the foundation applied beautifully on top, and a light layer of the Soft Moisture Powder Foundation was all that was needed for a natural yet flawless look.
