The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Key Ingredients

  • 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric)
  • 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid (Salicylic Acid)
  • Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer
  • Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry

Why Use Acids in your routine?

In case you’re not really sure why you would use this kind of treatment, here’s a little recap on the benefits of using acids in your regime.

Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) work to exfoliate the skin’s top layer to for a brighter, more even-toned complexion. Beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) also work to exfoliate the skin and also help clear pore congestion. The combination of the two offers up a deeper exfoliation with the dual benefit of clearer skin and increased luminosity.

With 30% AHA and 2% BHA, this is an intense exfoliator that also works on fine lines and wrinkles as well as texture, tone and radiance.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a rather clever formulation because it tackles the issue of irritation caused by acid exfoliation. With the inclusion of Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative, irritation is calmed and soothed, whilst crosspolymer hyaluronic acid comforts the skin. Vitamin B5 is includes to aid the healing of the skin and black carrot defends against free radicals.

How to Use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

It is really easy to use. You simply cleanse your face and make sure it is totally dry before applying the treatment like a mask. It has a serum texture that glides over the skin easily and makes it bright pink!

Fully rinse away after ten minutes maximum and then make sure you use a product with sunscreen as the acid makes you more vulnerable to sunburn for up to a week afterwards.

My Review

Some people are obsessed with acids and others are scared. To be completely honest I love an acid but I am in the middle because I know they can have a brilliant effect on skin, but at the same time, over-use will do you no favours at all. Because they deliver pretty instant results it’s possible to get a bit too acid-happy!

This peel from The Ordinary should only be left on the skin for ten minutes and used not more than twice per week.

I absolutely love the effect it has on my skin. Straight after use, my skin is soft, smooth and glowing, and my enlarged pores appear less obvious. I have used it many times now, and it is definitely a keeper.

It does say that you should only use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution if you are an experienced user of acid exfoliation and you don’t have sensitive skin. However, I used it on my partner’s skin, and he never uses acids in his routine. 10 minutes on his skin was absolutely fine and his skin was glowing and calm afterwards, even though he felt the tingle.

Also, It is an amazing dupe for treatments like Drunk Elephant’s Babyfacial which is over 10 times the price!
