I am always thrilled to try something new from Pat McGrath. I love her Fetisheyes mascara, so I was excited for this. Check out my review of the Pat McGrath Dark Star Volumizing Mascara. I have all the info along with before and after photos.
First of all, I love the packaging. The outer box with its perfect pastel pink is stunning and I really like the golden tube with pink lettering. The design team are really on it I think.

Before & After Photos
What I like about this mascara is that it is really versatile. One coat gives lovely, defined and fluttery lashes, and then you can keep building for the level of drama you are after.
Here’s the before photo:
Here’s one coat on one eye:
Two coats on the same eye:
And here’s it all evened up:
I really like the effect. After taking this photo, I actually then went on to applied a third coat, for a chunkier lash because it builds so nicely. I didn’t actually photograph that but I did record it and will share on my Instagram stories and save it to a highlight. Make sure you check that out soon.
This mascara wears really nicely and I love how super black it is. My lashes stayed up and curled all day, even with three coats which I think is really impressive. It dotted a little bit under my eyes, but I hadn’t really set under my eyes. When I wore it in one coat the following day, it didn’t move at all.
It gives a lovely volume to the lashes, but also lengthens and curls which is fab. Below is a side-by-side comparison with the Fetisheyes mascara. This one gives more volume than length, so it’s down to what you’re looking for.
This is two good coats of both mascaras.
I really like the look of them both. I’m a volume girl so Dark Star is possibly my preference, but I have always loved Fetisheyes. Which one do you prefer?
The Pat McGrath Dark Star Volumizing Mascara removes nice an easily with an oil cleanser – I used the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil*(one of my faves) – and everything came away and there were no panda eyes in the morning.
