This is such a lovely new launch from Murad. I have had it on my bedside table for about a month now. It’s fab because it’s great for face and eyes and will tackle issues induced by stress related inflammation. Here’s what you need to know about the Murad Intense Recovery Cream.

My Review of Murad Intense Recovery Cream

I have been giving this cream a little go at night time when I feel like my skin needs a bit of extra TLC, or if I have used a lot of actives and I’m worried my skin could get a little sensitive.

I think if you like Kate Somerville’s DeliKate Recovery Cream, this could be right up your street. The texture is really beautiful. It is buttery and silky, and literally melts into the skin. It feels instantly calming and soothing, and gives my skin a lovely glossy glow.

I have been loving it at night time for an extra boost in nourishment and hydration. I wake up with rested-looking skin that has a lovely hydrated bounce. Also, it is fabulous after an exfoliating treatment to really look after the skin and bring back that element of calm.

I love that you can use it around the eye area, and also it’s really good on lips.

What does Stress to do Skin?

Unilever did a study in March 2020 that revealed that 40% of people said that stress affects their skin.

High levels of cortisol, the stress hormone in the body, can really affect skin. We are only meant to have short bursts of cortisol, but many of us are experiencing it for prolonged periods.

When high levels of cortisol remain in the body, it starts to break down collagen and the reduces the skin barrier’s lipid levels. It also slows down cell turnover and can increase the amount of dead skin cells. This can in turn lead to breakouts because bacteria loves dead skin cells.

Also, with increased investigation into skincare, lots of people are over-exfoliating. When that happens, you need to include a calming emollient cream into your routine.

Shea Butter and Macadamia are really important emollients that are great for hydration. They are rich in Omegas 6, 7 & 9.

Mirabillis Jalapa Extract has brilliant effect on redness. It works really well with the emollients in the formula to protect the moisture barrier and it also works to boosts ceramides and filaggrin.

It also works to reduce skin discomfort signals, and soothes and reduces redness.

Micro algae extract blend works on cortisol, and also relaxes lines and wrinkles around the eyes, and expression lines.

What skin type should use Murad Intense Recovery Cream?

The cream has been designed for all skin types suffering with lifestyle and environmental stress. However, if you’re prone to congestion, I would avoid this.
