I’ve noticed quite a lot of people coming to this blog to find out the Difference Between The BaByliss Pro Perfect Curl and Curl Secret, so I thought I’d do a short and precise post answering that very question!

Apart from obvious things like differnce in price between Perfect Curl* and Curl Secret* and colour (black and purple), there are some key differences between the 2 products. Here’s the lowdown:

Difference Between The BaByliss Pro Perfect Curl and Curl Secret

BaByliss Curl Secret features the same auto-curl technology as the BaByliss Pro Perfect Curl, however, it has been made more consumer friendly:
  • Shape is slightly different on Curl Secret and it is lighter.
  • Curl Secret has less features to make it simpler
  • There are 2 heating settings on Curl Secret, Perfect Curl has 3
  • Curl Secret has 3 pre-set timer settings (vs 3 and off on pro).
  • The Curl direction control has also been simplified for Curl Secret and it just has just one automatic alternate setting. This means it changes direction after each section of hair so that you get a natural look. Perfect Curl’s direction can be changed which is better suited to professionals.
I hope that has made it easier to choose between the the two tools!

How to Use Them

They are such clever tools but you really do need to know how to use them correctly. If you don’t you’ll end up with tangles and, worst case scenario, getting it stuck in your hair.     I was wondering if the curl between the secret & pro perfect was different ie the pro perfect being more of a wave.

    • In my experience they actually produce a very similar effect. It is more of a wave than a curl when used on a lower setting for both tools.

  • What is the difference between the curl secret and the simplicity curl secret? Is the simplicity version even more simple to use?

    • yes but you have to use very small sections if it’s very thick x

    So the secret and pro do exactly the same thing but the pro has more fancy buttons. Is that right?

    • pretty much. You can set the direction with the pro but the consumer one automatically alternates direction x

  • My hair is really fine, loose and naturally straight. Normally if I curl it, the curls drop out in a couple of hours (even using hair spray or other products).

    Do you think the pro cutler would make the curls last longer?
