Obviously the name of this product got me interested from the very start. Light Shifter? Dewing Tint? Yes please and thank you very much. Also, there’s a tonne of skincare in there, with loads of my favourite humectant ingredients, so I literally couldn’t wait to get it on my face.

I have shade 2.5 Light Seeker, which is a little dark for my natural skin tone, yet once blended, really works and matches the colour of my (fake-tanned) neck. It actually gives a really nice bronzy glow and the tone works very well with the luminosity of the finish.

It is hard to comment on the shade range, as I only have one, and I don’t know how flexible the deepest one is, but 8 shades doesn’t seem to be very many.

Before & After Photos

Static before and after photos of the BECCA Light Shifter Dewing Tint don’t really do it justice because it’s a product that has so much light play involved.

Once my bronzer and blush is applied, I find that I don’t need highlighter for it to look like I am wearing highlighter. And it works really cleverly because the glow shows up in all the right places, and it isn’t a case of all-over glitter ball.

Because this shade is little deep for me, I have only really used a light layer. However, I want to see how much I can build up the coverage, so I’ve bought the lighter shade Orbit (2 Light) and will have a play with that and let you know how I get on. I may end up preferring the shade I already have, so let’s see! Stay tuned.

You just get a really gorgeous, natural looking glow that feels soothing and comfortable on the skin. It is subtly skin perfecting and gives a gorgeous juicy, plump look. It’s sheer but it still makes the skin look more flawless with light reflection and it gives a gorgeous dewiness. It’s great on hyperpigmentation and just makes you look really healthy.

Makeup layers over it really nicely, even with minimal powder. It does feel moisturising on the skin, and I think dry and normal skins will really like it. It may be a touch too emollient for oilier skin tones. I have a combination skin type that is getting drier as I age. Considering how emollient and moisturising this is, it actually lasts really well on my skin.

BECCA Light Shifter Finishing Veil

I am not really a powder girl, as you know, so I have tested this less but it’s a nice powder that takes down shine without blotting away glow.

I use it with a small brush. It has a very soft shimmer in it if you look up close, but it applies so finely that you don’t really notice this. You would have to work very hard to apply a lot of this product as it is very firm in the pan.

Out of the two products, I prefer the Dewing Tint, and I actually think I prefer Armani’s new Luminous Silk Glow Fusion Powder to this BECCA one. In fact, the Armani works really well with the Dewing Tint.

Where to buy it

The Dewing Tint is £26 and the Finishing Veil is £27.

  • I just read that Becca is closing 🙁
“The global cosmetics company announced on Wednesday it is closing in September after facing an accumulation of challenges as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic”

  • How did you get on with the other shade? Deciding between the two.
