FIXING MY HAIR! This is such an exciting new launch from Aveda, and it has been six years in the making. Check out the brand new Aveda Botanical Repair Hair Collection. I have been testing it out – here’s what you need to know.
So! This is an amazing collection in so many ways. Not only does it use ground-breaking molecular plant technology for instantly repaired and strengthened hair, it is also packaged in post-consumer recycled packaging, eliminating use of virgin petrochemical plastics.
Did you know that all of Aveda’s products are made using 100% wind power through renewable energy and carbon offsets? I think that’s absolutely incredible.
What is Aveda Botanical Repair?
Aveda’s chemists and scientists have been researching the subject of damage repair for many years. This new collection is the result of six years of intensive study and development of plant powered technologies.
- Instantly strengthens, repairs and protects damaged hair
- Uses three different technologies to treat the 3 layers of hair
- The products are 94% naturally derived
- Features a naturally-derived fresh, light floral, herbal aroma containing certified organic ylang-ylang, rose and marjoram essential oils
- Suitable for all hair types and textures
- Safe on coloured hair
Three Technologies: Repair. Prevent. Protect.
- REPAIR: Bond multiplying molecule penetrates the hair to multiply bonds, strengthen and repair
- PREVENT: Macro green blend of avocado, green tea and sacha inchi smooths the cuticle to detangle and prevent breakage
- PROTECT: Active complex creates a botanical F-layer (outermost layer of the hair) – an invisible water-resistant lipid layer made of a fatty acid that “seals” the surface of the hair cuticle to help protect and shield from damage
The products within Aveda’s Botanical Repair collection all work on the three levels of the hair – the cortex, the cuticle and the F-layer – to build bonds and kick your hair into shape super fast!
I have been testing the products and am getting on really well with them. I absolutely love the Shampoo. It is free from all nasties, yet it foams up into a rich soft mousse that deep cleanses the hair and makes my scalps and strands feel super clean and fresh. I like to do a second shampoo with a teeny dot of product, and it lathers up massively. It’s super satisfying and feels really luxurious.
It is really nice and balancing, and is excellent at gently cutting through any product build up.
The Strengthening Conditioner and the Masque Light are where the plant powered 3-layer hair repair comes in. They work to condition and detangle, and I can brush my hair straight out of the shower without need to add any treatment products.
I have been switching between the two conditioning products. I tend to go the Masque when I have a few minutes spare, as the intensive treatment works best if you leave it in for about five minutes. This one is absolutely incredible for softness and shine.
The Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-in Treatment is absolutely dreamy. It melts into damp hair leaving an invisible, weightless veil of protection. It leaves my hair looking smooth and shiny, plus it makes it really easy to control and style.
Importantly, it has the added benefit of heat protection up to 450°F. This is vital for me, because I love to enjoy my hair, and I can’t see the point of having it if I can’t style it!!
Years of regular heat styling has made my hair vulnerable to breakage and tangling. However, I have really seen an improvement in the smoothness and strength of the mid lengths and ends with these products which prevent knots, tangling and breakage.
It also protects from the drying effects of the sun, which is excellent. I spend a whole lot of time worrying about what the sun does to my skin, but it takes its toll on hair too. I want that that protection because it means my hair stays shinier and my colour lasts longer.
My Sensitive Scalp
Quite a few products work to visibly restore the look of hair but for me, the ingredients they use irritate and inflame my sensitive scalp. I have to choose between healthy looking hair, or a happy scalp. As soon as I use a product with too many synthetic ingredients, my scalp becomes red, itchy and flaky. Quite honestly, I’d rather have dull hair than flakes!
With the Botanical Repair collection, I don’t have to choose because it is super gentle and is powder by plants and not synthetics.
