YSL Fusion Foundation Review (Before & After)

So I have been teasing you (and myself) with posts about, and swatches of, the latest foundation launch from YSL for a few days. Rather enthusiastically, I have been wearing it today, so here’s my initial YSL Fusion Foundation Review with product shots and before and after photos. Exciting!!

For a start, let’s just take a moment to appreciate the bottle.

YSL Fusion Foundation Review – The Bottle!

YSL are calling it ‘architectural in design’ and apparently it plays tribute to the House of Yves Saint Laurent. The bottle is dressed in the sleek black lines of a “Le Smoking” tuxedo. It certainly does look and feel very expensive – “The stark geometry of a skyscraper meets the sophistication of a black leather stiletto”. Fabulous!

So basically, I absolutely love the look and feel of this on my skin. It feels like it just disappears into the skin and gives beautiful coverage as it goes. There’s a glow, but it isn’t shiny at all. The above photos are without primer, concealer or powder – this is literally just the foundation a little bronze and blush, plus eye makeup.

To give you a better idea of the coverage and the finish here is the before photo, followed by a shot of just the foundation in BD40.

As I said, this is just the foundation – there’s no concealer, primer or powder. I love the way the skin is radiant and luminous but there is really no shine. In terms of feel, it is super light – in fact it feels like I am wearing a beautiful serum that has sunk perfectly into the skin. It’s not cakey, sticky or heavy – it’s actually quite possible to forget you’re wearing makeup.

I have had it on for about 5 hours now and it is still looking great. Of course it is far too soon to comment on its 24 hour hold, if indeed that ever becomes possible, but I am definitely pleased with its longevity so far. If I have anything important to report, I will update this post.
