I may well have discovered the best ever invention for parents or people who don’t like sandy beaches- Vichy Anti-Sand a sun cream that repels sand! As a mum of a seven-year-old, I have spent many nights in the summer months trying to get sand off him. Even when the sand is off him I then have the fun of getting it out of the bath etc. So I dreaded my husband coming home with sand to fill up his sandpit- until now!
Vichy is well respected when it comes to sun cream. I have used their products before knowing that I will get results. When the chance came to sample Vichy Anti-sand I jumped at the chance, albeit sceptically. Available as part of their Ideal Soleil range, this is a milk formula and is available in SPF30 and SPF50. Promising to absorb quickly and provide an ultra-dry finish, this makes it ideal for use on children who won’t stand still for long! Find it here
The lotions are broad spectrum sun creams that offer UVA and UVB protection. They are fortified with Vichy Mineralising Water to offer hydration to the skin too. The cream has a non-sticky feel and is suitable for all skin types including sensitive. It can be used on the face and the body so no need to pack multiple protection as the same cream can be used on the whole family.
Luckily this cream turned up the day before all the nice weather arrived. As soon as we were up on Saturday my son wanted to go out into the garden to play. I applied a good layer of lotion to his skin and sent him off almost straightaway to his sandpit. Normally that would be a big no no with wet sun cream on but this really did dry down quickly. He had great fun playing in the sand, then wanted to go into his paddling pool to cool off.
Moment of truth time- the sand brushed straight off! It completely surprised me at how easily the sand came off. I used a towel and with a quick wipe, it was off. He could go into his paddling pool and didn’t have the usual collection of sand pooling at the bottom. The cream is water resistant so there was no problem using it in the water, typical child he then wanted to go back to the sand, as before, the sand brushed straight off. I wasn’t expecting such a good result when he had been in the pool but I needn’t have worried.
I have continued to use this cream on the whole family. My husband and I have both tried it out in the sand with exactly the same results. You apply the cream and even if you get sandy before it dries it brushes straight off. I suffer from eczema and have not had a reaction to this product.
I have been really impressed with this cream. The fact it is available in a higher SPF is a bonus as we are going away next year and this will definitely be coming with us. We are also going to use it on Cornwall’s sandy beaches in the summer holidays. If you love sandy beaches but hate sand sticking to you then check out this sun cream. It is reasonably priced and will see the whole family protected. Find it here
