- Use a sore throat remedy that addresses the pain associated with the imflammation but doesn’t dampen your body’s natural reaction to infection
- Sore throats are usually caused by viral infection, so it is best to treat the pain while your body fights it naturally
- Stay away from other people to reduce the chance of catching a secondary infection whilst your immune system is weak
- Dehydration is a main contributor to sore thorats. Stay hydrated by drinking lots of fluid. Add a drop of Manuka Honey to warm water to help soothe soreness
- Take Vitamin C and Zinc and try to have at least 5 portions of fruit and veg
- Central heating makes things worse! Try to get as much fresh air as possible and don’t have the heating too high
- Gargle with salt water to fight infection
- Rest – your voice and your body
- Avoid hot food and drink as they can cause further irritation
- Got to your GP if it isn’t improved after 2 weeks
You can pick up Ultra Chloraseptic Anaesthetic Throat Sprays in Boots, and Superdrug for £5.45. This will help numb pain but still allow your body’s own natural defence to work.
