Oh my goodness, I am going to put this out there straight away! Tom Ford Velvet Orchid is simply divine. It’s one of those love at first sniff experiences and now Velvet Orchid and I just never want to be apart! It is the perfect autumnal fragrance although I am utterly tempted to switch to it right now. And just look at it!

I have to confess, I found it pretty tricky to capture the beauty of the bottle on camera, which is why I included the campaign shot for you. It really does it justice. The Tom Ford Velvet Orchid bottle is made from the same fluted glass as the original Black Orchid but this time in the most stunning blackened purple shade. That was the hardest part to capture.
I think it looks amazing with my Tom Ford Black Cherry Nails!
Tom Ford Velvet Orchid is an oriental floral that “evolves the carnal grandeur and seductive power…of Black Orchid into an uber-feminine fragrance”.
Tom Ford Velvet Orchid – The Notes
“Velvet Orchid retains Black Orchid’s instantly recognizable elements: a fresh, lush petal facet; animalic notes and skin-lacquering warmth, and re-imagines these elements into a fragrance with a uniquely compelling nature”.
Top Notes: Italian Bergamot, Mandarin Orpur, Succan Absolute (Rum), and Honey
Heart Notes: Orchid, Jasmine Absolute, Orange Blossom, Turkish Rose Oil, Rose Absolute, Heliotrope, Magnolia, Daffodil and Hyacynth
Base Notes: Peru Balsam, Myrrh, Labdanum, Sandalwood, Raw Suede and Vanilla.
So you can see that is is bright and floral yet it rests on the warmest, creamiest sensual base imaginable. It’s sexy. Completely. I love the suede in it so much. It binds so beautifully to the skin in the smoothest way.
Obviously I was going to love this before I even smelled it. I have never been so in love with the Tom Ford Beauty offering than I am right now. It does everything. Feels good, looks good and performs beautifully. It also makes a good old dent in your bank balance but this kind of luxury could never come for free!
Tom Ford Velvet Orchid goes on counter in the UK in September 2014. Find Tom Ford at Selfridges. If you’re still looking for a summer fragrance, Mandarino di Almalfi is gorgeous.
