I have been wanting to write this review for so long but it has taken me forever to get all the swatches together! It is finally here! Please check out my review, swatches and before & after photos of the Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation.
This is the Tom Ford brand’s first matte, medium-full coverage foundation. Although I am more of glowy skin person, I was super keen to try this formula. This is because I love the Tom Ford take on skin and I was assured that it isn’t a flat matte, but one with luminosity. I am always up for that. I have now been using it on and off for a couple of months and am a big fan!

Although I have been putting off this swatch session, I got really organised with it and actually found it incredibly therapeutic! The shade range is excellent with a great spread of different depths and undertones. I have even found my perfect contour shade! This formula is a brilliant medium for that kind of sculpting work because it’s so smooth on the skin and very long-lasting.
I have all the Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation swatches except three. I will flag the ones I am missing as I go.

Before & After Photos
I have been playing with this foundation for a few months now and was wearing Warm Sand which I really love. It’s on the pale side but I like that because you can warm it up with bronzer yet the base still looks lovely and fresh.
For the purposes of this post, I have picked another shade that looks better on it’s own without any other makeup, and also matches my fake tanned body better. There were a few contenders, but after much deliberation, I went for Buff. I have a feeling it will become my favourite.
Here are the other contenders:

My Review of Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation
What I love is how smooth it makes my skin look instantly. It is very kind on texture like fine lines, wrinkles and pores and unlike some matte formulations, it doesn’t gather in lines. This is really good going. I think it looks really pretty on the skin, especially as it is a matte.
Another thing that ticks the boxes for me is that I don’t feel I need to powder this foundation. It sets itself quite nicely and I find it lovely and long wearing. It keeps my skin looking pretty flawless throughout the day, and yet it still allows the skin to look like skin.
Whilst I was swatching all the shades, I came across one that is my perfect contour shade with just the right depth and coolness to create a natural looking shadow. This is Shell Beige.
How Long Does the Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation Last?
This certainly performs on the longwear promise for me, and the hydrating yet matte formulation seem to suit my combination, dehydrated skin type very well. It was able to hold fast on my oily areas, yet still look luminous on my drier areas. It hasn’t transferred when I have worn a mask, and it has also survived a sweaty session on my Peloton! Impressive.
The texture of the foundation itself is pretty runny which at first put me off. As a fan of glow, I always crave a creamy texture. However, the fluid formula is a dream to blend with a buffing style brush (I have used a few different ones with it) and I actually really enjoy applying it.
The foundation has a lovely luminous, natural finish and as the day goes on, it gets a little glowier, but it never busts out to dewy, which will please the matte lovers. Plus it is amazing on pores.
What Skin Type it Suit?
It might not be ideal for very dry skin types, as you may just want more of a creamy texture. And if you love a really juicy, dewy, shiny finish, which I often do, you might not be a fan. I am usually in that camp, but for me, this formula totally works! I love it – it is a gorgeous foundation.
