The idea, as described by a handy how-to on the back of the packet, is that you use Striking on the lid, Luminous in the crease, and Smoke as the highlighter shade.

The quality of the shadows is lovely. I am particularly impressed with Striking which is the dark brown metallic shade in theBalm’s foil formulation. It is soft and creamy, super pigmented, and blends absolutely beautifully.

I also love the colour of Luminous, which is the matte shade and has that soft orangey-brown tone that I’m a fan of. It’s just perfect for defining the crease. The highlight shade is also lovely and great on the eyebrow arch and inner corner of the eye. It would also double nicely as a complexion highlighter, making this palette even more handbag friendly. As tiny as it is, it still has a good little mirror in there.

It’s a complete thumbs up from me. It’s simple and pared back, but everything you need for a beautiful modern smoky eye for both day and night. If I had to pack for an overnighter, I’d most certainly save all that space and take this one with me.
