The Ordinary skincare brand owned by Deciem is making waves (in a good way) in the beauty industry. In this post In this post I am looking at The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer. More good news is that they are branching into makeup and will eventually launch a whole range called The Ordinary Colours. The range will begin with foundations and concealers and then move more into colour makeup. How exciting is that? The first step towards this is the launch of two new The Ordinary primers.

Before I get into this review I just want to say, foundations and concealers are my favourite beauty products ever. I am obsessed with the idea of a flawless complexion and I literally cannot wait to see what Deciem have in store for us with The Ordinary Colours. They have been working on the products for quite some time and they are due to launch at the end of February or early March 2017.

So this The Ordinary Primer is described as a “Spreadability Enhancing Lightweight Surface Smoother and Primer with High-Flexibility”. I love Deciem’s approach to naming their products. For example, skin cleansers are skin cleaners, and they tend to get down to business with descriptive titles that spell out exactly what the product is going to do for you.

  • New generation lightweight serum-like formula
  • Increases the spreadability of subsequent complexion makeup
  • Helps avoid the unnatural and uneven accumulation of pigments especially around the eyes and on dry skin
  • Acts as a light, non-oily surface hydrator for a natural dewy look
  • Use as the last step in skincare regimen as a makeup primer

Essentially, this is a silicone based primer which enables foundation to spread evenly over the skin and prevent it from settling into fine lines or clinging to dry patches. It has been designed give the skin a hydrated, dewy look.

There’s another The Ordinary Primer called High Adherence Silicone Primer which has been designed to to act as a matte, hydrating, blurring primer for makeup that looks higher in definition and adheres for longer. I shall show you that soon.

Before & After

The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer

I tested out The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer and simply spread a few drops over my skin with my fingers. It glides over easily as you’d expect with a silicone product, yet feels light on the skin. I decided to use it with a matte, super concentrated foundation (Marc Jacobs Remarcable Full Cover Concentrate) to see how effective it is in making product glide on to the skin.

I like how it gave a very full coverage foundation a lovely natural look and delivered an even complexion with the tiniest amount of product. The foundation felt normal on the skin, no silicone feel, and it stayed looking nice and fresh.

The best part of all this is that The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer is only £5.90. You can find it HERE.

  • Dear Ree.
I just recieved my bottle, but am rather miffed as the contents doesn’t fill the bottle it came in. Would you be able to tell me how much your bottle was filled when you recieved it? The level in mine is quite a bit below the top edge of the label :/

    Best,
    Joséphine
