The Body Shop All-in-One Instablur – 5 Action Perfector Review |
Instablur has a unique formula which contains mattifying spherical powders that fill, along with vitamin E to moisturise. Together they work to be:
- 12 hour shine controlling
- Pore smoothing
- Blemish hiding
- Complexion unifying
- Makeup Extending
Here’s what the product looks like:

I tested this out yesterday and was pretty pleased with the results. I have tried a few blurring products and I think this one has the lightest feel even though it contains silicone.
There is the initial ‘slip’ you feel with blur agents but again it is very light and it settles into the skin very quickly to a velvet finish with no slip at all. It visibly evens skin tone and I was most impressed by what it did for the appearance of my enlarged pores which are one of my biggest complexion bugbears.
Body Shop All-in-One Instablur Before & After
The effect of this was maximised once foundation was applied, but there is a visible difference with just the instablur applied.
Here’s before:

I found when it came to applying foundation (I went for Eve Lom) I only needed the lightest touch to achieve the coverage I wanted. I also found that it went a long way to mattifying the foundation’s finish and that I could skip powder and move straight to bronzer.
If you have any foundations or bases that you find a touch too glowy this could be the answer! The finish was flawless and it looked like I had spent a long time on my base and I really hadn’t!
In terms of extending the wear of my makeup, I think that the Body Shop Instablur definitely played a role in allowing little or no shine to break through thus keeping my makeup looking fresher for longer. It still looked pretty good when it came to taking it off in the evening and I only powdered once while I was wearing it, more out of habit than anything else.
I think the next time I wear it I’ll go slightly heavier on the moisturiser before hand as I felt that my skin looked a little drier than normal by the end of the evening, just under my eyes and around my nostrils. Or pehaps I will avoid those areas. I have some experimenting to do.
Overall, a big thumbs up because my makeup stayed really fresh looking and pores remained minimised.
The Body Shop All-in-One Instablur – 5 Action Perfector is out 21st May 2014 for £14. Find The Body Shop online HERE. For anyone interested the ingredients are: Insononanoate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Ethylene Brassylate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Laureth-4.

Great review. The link at the end doesn’t link to Body Shop though but to Tortoise and Blonde!

I’ve not come across a blur product before, but it sure does look like it does a good job! x

The B & A results look fab and lovinf that it isn’t silicone! On the wish list!
This sounds really good – I often find my foundation can look a little too dewy, but don’t want to not use it as it’s a waste, so this could be a solution! Will definitely be checking it out once it hits stores (: x

That looks great!!! I just got mine:) I love going for a natural look and i think this is perfect for me but I was wondering do you apply the insta blur right after your usual face moisturizer or just straight to a clean face?

I used it after all my skincare. xxx
Thank you x
I need to definitely “get me some” of this stuff in the gallons ! I am going to try this soon, for sure ! Thanks for bringing us the review!
Thanks so much, I bought this product yesterday and due to lack of information on the tube I had no idea how to use it. Have just used it following your instructions and I am very pleased with my peachy skin.x
Amazing!! So glad to be of service xxx
Yes, it contains silicones!nTake a closer look at the INCI-list:
Isododecane (Solvent), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), Vinyldimethyl/Trimethylsiloxysilicate Stearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Silica (Absorbent), Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer (Viscosity Increasing Agent), Isononyl Isononanoate (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Polymethyl Methacrylate (Emollient), Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent – Emollient), Ethylene Brassylate (Masking Agent), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Laureth-4 (Emulsifier/Surfactant).
I was really wondering how this product would work without silicones. I bought it and since the silicone content is quite high, it feels a bit like Garnier’s blur cream.
Nothing to comment? Why did you say that it does not contain silicones?
It was a typo. It was meant to say that it has a light feel in spite of containing silicones. I don’t really have anything to comment because I am quite happy to use products containing silicones. 🙂
