This Tarte Powder foundation is powered by Amazonian clay enriched with Tourmaline – natural, light-reflecting gemstones. I think this will come with the Tarte Airbuki brush which apparently makes all the difference in application, but as I don’t have that, I buffed it on with my Bare Minerals Full Flawless Face Brush.

It is a super fine powder, that when I rub between my fingers, actually feels very moisturising – odd, but totally welcome, for a powder. It promises 12 hour coverage and a waterproof finish and says it won’t settle into fine lines and wrinkles. Sure enough, it didn’t.

The tourmaline certainly does its job – I love the glowy finish. I found it very smoothing on my lines and noticed that it is excellent at minimising pores too. I love the coverage – it cancels redness and blemishes perfectly and is very buidable without getting cakey. Here’s the before photo for you to make your own comparisons:

I prepped my skin with rosehip oil from Akin and Tolou Moringa Seed Oil & Camelia Face Creme to ensure my dehydrated skin was as well prepared as possible for a powder foundation. You probably wouldn’t need to go too heavy on moisturiser though if your skin is oily.
I wasn’t able to test out the waterproof claim, but I wore it for the whole afternoon and evening yesterday and it lasted very well indeed. It feels very nice on the skin and leaves it soft and smooth. I think I may need a slightly lighter shade, but I think this will work well when I am wearing a bit more fake tan.
I am going to show you the Amazonian Clay Blush next – hint: I like it!
Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation will be available on QVC UK when the line launches on 28th March 2014. Read my show times post for more info.
