I love an own brand face cream. You often find that you get all the research and technology without the heavy price tag. So it’s less about ‘the money money money’!! Enough of that!
I have been trying out a new addition for Superdrug – the Optimum Swiss Apple Skin Renewal Day Cream.
“Revolutionary anti-ageing day cream with PhytoCellTec (TM) Malus Domestica which uses extracts from Swiss Uttwiler Spätlauber Apples to promote a fresher and younger-looking complexion.”
I have been using it for about a week during the day and have gotten on really well with it. It is perfect for the sunny whether we are experiencing at the moment, as it contains mattifying properties and leaves the skin soft and velvety powdery with lots of ‘grip’ for foundation or tinted moisturiser.

It has a lovely, fresh, subtle apple smell which adds to the feeling of clean you feel when it’s applied. It smooths on really nicely, spreads easily and sinks in super fast so you can get straight to makeup. I am all about saving that precious commodity called ‘time’.
I would need to use it for longer to fully assess it’s ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and also minimise pores.
Clinical trials carried out over 28 days, on women between the ages of 37 and 64 showed significant visible reduction in wrinkles in 100% of cases. Pretty impressive!
I would happily continue using it because it makes a great base for makeup and the ultimate bonus is that it has both UVA and UVB protection. Regular SPFs will help block UVB rays but we are left vulnerable to the ageing effects of UVA. Nooooooooo!
Optimum Swiss Apple Skin Renewal Day Cream contains protection against both UVA and UVB so I can relax!
Check it out online here. It is currently on an introductory offer, £9.99 for 50mls. It is certainly great value for money.

Also, in other news, Superdrug are now getting ready to launch their new Beauty Card for saving points and earning rewards. Check out the countdown clock on www.superdrug.com. 21 days and counting!!

  1. I use the Swiss Apple Skin Serum and you can see your skins appearance improve daily…pore size resumes normality and the texture and smoothness of the skin takes on a youthful appearance….I will be 60 next year and will be changing over to entire range.

  2. Hi there, i too use this product, and i love it!!! however, in regard to the UVA/UVB filters, because it didnt go into any more detail about them I emailed superdrug, and they replied saying that it blocks out UVA/UVB rays to the same level as SPF 5, and advised that during the summer i wear a proper spf (15 of above) over the top of it.
