The vegan revolution has spread a long way beyond what we put on our plates and now it’s as important to think about what we put on our skin too. Specialist skincare can be very pricey, however, the good news is that, in response to growing demand, vegan skincare is becoming much more accessible. The brand new Sainsbury’s Source Of Nature range is the perfect example of that. I have been testing it out, here’s what you need to know.

Source of Nature is a complete vegan skincare collection that uses natural ingredients and is seriously affordable. It is also really easy to get your hands on because it’s stocked at Sainsbury’s in store and online.

There are a whole range of different products in the Source of Nature vegan skincare collection from cleansers to moisturisers to body care and I have a few favourites I can share with you.

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to wear more eye makeup (!) so I have been calling on the Source Of Nature Eye Make-Up Remover quite a lot. It is just £2! This one is super gentle and is brilliant at removing makeup. It is really moisturising, and whilst it contains nourishing oils, it doesn’t leave an oily residue. It uses antioxidant White and Green Tea extracts, Buriti and Sunflower oil to care for the skin. I actually quite like to use it all over my face as a first cleanse if I am wearing a lot of makeup.

The Facial Wash (£2) is also really good. It gently cleanses the skin (I love to use it with my Sensse sonic silicone brush) and it leaves my skin feeling super clean but not at all tight or stripped.

The Day Cream gives my skin a real glow

There are two sets of moisturisers to choose from. There’s the White Tea & Liquorice Day Cream (£3.50) which is my personal favorite because it gives my skin a gorgeous glow and gets it perfectly prepped for makeup. It is formulated to hydrate, calm and also brighten the skin, and also uses super nourishing Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter and Jojoba oil.

The matching night cream, which is also £3.50, uses a blend of  Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Sunflower Oil, Avocado and Apricot Oil to repair the skin while you sleep. It’s a richer formula yet still light and comfortable on the skin.

There’s also a lovey anti-ageing day and night duo which is geared towards reducing fine lines and wrinkles and restoring elasticity.

As a body moisturiser addict, my other must-have is the vegan Body Lotion (£2) that uses White and Green Tea extracts, Babassu Oil, Sesame and Coconut oil to deeply hydrate and soften the skin. It is gorgeous. It’s super rich, yet sinks into the skin beautifully and is doing extremely well at defending my skin against the annual cold air and central heating induced dry out. I can get dressed quickly after applying it without feeling sticky which is always a bonus when I’m in a rush.

There are other products which you can check out here, however, I think there are a couple of holes in the range which I really hope Sainsbury’s will fill soon. It would be amazing if there was a serum and an eye cream in the collection too. Fingers crossed they will plan to include these because this is such a lovely range.

  • Thank you for this post. I have recently decided to use only cruelty-free products. It’s amazing how many companies you would think would be cruelty-free but are not. Also, some companies that are jumping on the vegan bandwagon do test their products on laboratory animals. L’Oreal which does animal testing is launching a vegan hair care line. For more info go to http://www.bfp.org, Beagle Freedom Project. There is also a Beagle Freedom UK. 96% of the dogs used in animal testing are beagles.
