The second I heard about this brand, I knew I had to feature it because it’s such an amazing story. It’s a story made even more amazing by the people that work for the brand and the fact that one of my favourite Beauty PR firms are have taken them on as a pro bono client. They want to help them so much that they are doing the PR for free. Here’s the low down on The Soap Co.

The Soap Co is a social enterprise. 80% of the staff are visually impaired, deaf or socially disadvantaged and the ethos behind the brand is to create products that are good and do good. Beautifully simple!
There is so much ‘smoke and mirrors’ in the beauty industry. Much of it is about magic and illusion, and don’t get me wrong, it was the magic and illusion that drew me into this fantastical world in the first place. But it can all become very complex and oblique and it is hugely refreshing to come across something that has at it’s heart something very pure and simple.

The Soap Co exists purely to create good products and employment for people who are blind or otherwise disabled or disadvantaged. All profits go back into the business to keep on making good products, and keep on doing good. It’s a beautiful thing.
The Soap Co Products
As you’d expect, this is a very simple line with amazing quality products. Everything is made in the UK and use added vitamins, natural extracts and free from colour and parabens. The packaging is made from recycled and recyclable materials.

- Hand wash
- Hand lotion
- Bar Soap
- Hand wash refill
- 3 scents – White Tea, Citrus, Black Poppy & Wild Fig
I love the monochrome packaging. It is simple yet chic and it’s the first time I have seen braille on a product like this. It makes it feel very special and meaningful. And the products are lovely. I have the Black Poppy & Wild Fig soap and hand lotion and they are lovely.
And look! The soap has the name of the person who made it stamped on it. Mine was made by Billy. The formula uses olive oil for supple skin, restorative coconut oil, water distilled from the Lake District, rich moisturising cocoa butter and hydrating pro-vitamin B5.
The hand lotion comes in a big 300ml bottle and is enriched with cocoa butter for rich moisturisation, pro-vitamin B5 for hydration and regeneration, soothing aloe vera extract and healing tea tree oil. I love the Black Poppy & Wild Fig scent. It is fresh and clean and leaves my hands feeling really comfortable. It also makes me feel good about the world.
You can find out more about The Soap Co HERE and also order the products online. Prices start at £7 and the feel good factor is free!

I’ve never heard of this brand before but I’m so glad I stumbled upon this post because I’ve never seen a company with better work ethics (maybe apart from Lush, but everyone knows about Lush). I just love the minimal packaging too – sometimes the “fancy stuff” can be a bit overwhelming and we need just plain packaging.
Thanks for sharing this! I will definitely check it out.
Glad you found it! X
