Something happened to me when I walked into a Sephora in New York last week and saw the Pantone table! I wanted all of it – rather irrationally because I would end up all shades of Marsala from head to toe! I managed to whittle it down to 3 things – my favourite of which is is the Sephora + Pantone Universe Marsala Cheek Trio. It’s a beauty!

So there may be a few of you that really have no idea what I am going on about, and to be honest, I am not explaining myself particularly well, so here’s a little bit of background.

Pantone Colour of the Year 2015

So this is a thing. Each year Pantone picks a shade that is going to be the colour of the year. It is a pretty big deal and lots of people get together in various committees and decide what the shade it will be. It is a pretty big deal, particularly because it creates a big opportunity for new products, in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries. This year, the colour is Marsala Pantone 18-1438. It’s a beautiful colour and I found it very exciting!

So this little beauty is a tribute to Marsala. It’s a Sephora exclusive, limited-edition trio with 2 blushers and a highlighter and designed to complement the 2015 Colour of the Year. In its rose gold sleek case, I needed it!

There’s a beautiful Marsala shade (naturally) and then a beautiful fresh peach. The highlighter is really good – it actually reminds me of a slightly more subtle version of theBalm Mary Lou-maniser that I completely love (but somehow smashed!).

The powders are so smooth and fine that they are almost creamy thanks to a triple jet milled process. The pigmentation is intense and texture is velvety. I love these a lot. Apparently they contain a “unique blend of naturally derived oils and powders” to give the skin a radiant glow.

You have to go pretty lightly with the deepest shade because it is super pigmented – I use the Real Techniques Duo Fiber Face Brush which always delivers a light application.  I actually use this shade where I’d normally put a contour and it has a lovely effect. I use the peachy shade right on the apples of the cheeks for a pretty flush. And of course the highlighter goes right on the top of my cheekbones.

Sometimes I just use the peachy blush if I want to keep it super simple.

This product isn’t online anymore and you need to seek it out in store – sad news for UK dwellers. But if you happen to be passing, get in and have a look – it was in a few NYC stores just last week. The rose gold casing makes it even more attractive!

Sephora + Pantone Universe Marsala Cheek Trio is $28.
