I love Revlon’s Nail Art duos because fancy nails are my thing. But I am SO not good at doing fancy things with my nails. Over the years I have improved with nail painting skills, but not enough to take on any precision work and anything that helps with this is very much welcomed. Cue the Revlon Nail Art Shiny Matte duos which I loved before I even tried because I’m obessed with the contrast between the 2 finishes.

So, as the name would suggest, these little Revlon numbers have one side matte and one side shiny. Actually, I think metallic describes it better than shiny, but they are working for me regardless. So the side with the regular brush is the matte polish:

And the shiny/metallic end has a skinny nail art brush to make precise work a cinch.

This is the Revlon Nail Art Shiny Matte in 520 Tortoiseshell. Here’s the look I created with it…

As I said, I am no nail artist, but I whipped this up really quick and I am sure I could do better if I spent a little time! I also have Revlon Nail Art Shiny Matte in 500 Leather & Lace and had a very quick go with that too!

You can actually paint much finer lines with the skinny brush, but I wanted you to be able to see the silver colour. And imagine what someone with skill could achieve?!?
The other duo available in the Revlon Nail Art Matte Shiny collection is called Pinstripe. I don’t have it but here’s a shot. I think the matte shade is navy which looks lovely!

Really loving this collection and I’m happy to see lots more exploration into textures. The press release tells me that Revlon Nail Art Matte Shiny duos are available from May 2014 but they are HERE at Boots NOW!! They are £7.99.
