Gel effect nail polishes are absolutely everywhere at the moment and the Revlon contribution to this sector is really, really good! I have been testing out the brand new Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel. They have been out for a while in the US but literally just launched in the UK. Here’s the low-down.

So! To start of there’s a huge and very lovely selection of colours to choose from! There are 30 in total and I have a few of them. The one that I have been testing out is the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel in Joker’s Wild.

I am slightly obsessed with this colour right now and it just amazing for summer – really fresh and poppy. In fact I think I am going to paint it on my toes for my holiday. I like something bright by the pool and I really want it to last.
Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel System

This is a 2 step system. You start with Colour + Base which is a base coat and colour in one. The formula contains optical brighteners which promises to make every shade really vivid.
Next you use the ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat which is the final step in your gel manicure. It is a hard-wearing top coat that delivers protection, high shine and super long wear.
I have had Joker’s Wild on my nails for 4 days and it is not showing any signs of chipping. This is probably about as far as I can get with one colour as I get bored really quickly but I feel fully confident that there’s a few more days at least in it! It hasn’t even chipped on my right hand which is practically unheard of. Also, this was pretty dreamy to apply!

I had bought this for the first time maybe… 3 weeks ago. I did a “test nail” and waited 5 days just to see how it held up. I was shocked that after 3 days I wasn’t getting mangled like the Sally Hansen I’d been using for half a year. For Mother’s Day I went with High Roller, which matched the deep purple of a dress my mom got me for Christmas ’14. It matched beautifully. I applied it about 2 days before, but it looked just as fresh on Mother’s Day.
The only real chipping I’ve had from this is due to scraping a couple nails along a hard plastic edge when handwashing a dish. If I actually used gloves I’m sure I’d have a beautiful manicure for at least 10 days. Mind you, I keep my nails at an athletic length, but they do get long enough to stab myself at times. With that said, the nail edges do go through some wear. If you’re super careful I’m sure you can make it last up to 2 weeks.
In the US it’s $5 at Target and I think also Walmart, but a bit higher at some drug stores. Considering I was paying out about $15 for base/color/top coats, I think this is my new favorite brand. Durable and affordable!
I am going to test this out with Gelous advanced nail… thing. I’d read that it’s known to make polish last longer if you use it as an in between coat, so if I can make this Gel Envy indestructible, I’ll do so!
