I am big on Real Techniques and I absolutely love their sets. This one is excellent not only because base products are my favourite makeup category but because now I finally have one of the brushes that has always been missing from my collection. Here is a good look at the Real Techniques Ultimate Base Set. Enjoy!
How bizarre that this is my first expert face brush. I have no idea how that’s happened! Also, I am so excited that there’s a brand new concealer brush!
This is a limited edition set that brings us a collection of three base essentials – all about blending, buffing and smoothing, to target imperfections for a flawless complexion.
Real Techniques Ultimate Base Set Contents
- Expert face brush – ultra-firm and broad for buffing cream or liquid foundation
- Miracle complexion sponge – rounded side blends larger areas of the face, precision tip covers imperfections, and the flat edge contours around the eyes and the nose
- Deluxe concealer brush – dense, rounded bristles for well blended concealer application above and below the eye area
- Mirrored case
I love applying my foundation with a brush. It’s so much less messy than using fingers and I love how firm the Real Techniques brushes are.
The buffing brush is a fave of mine and the Expert Face Brush is now on the same level of love! It is suitable for liquids, creams and powders, and is super firm for easy blending and buffing. It’s advantage over the buffing brush is the domed shape which makes it great for contouring too.
The sponge is brilliant used wet for applying and blending foundation, and dry with powders. I like to use it in between layers of makeup to make everything look more blended and flawless.
The brand new Deluxe Concealer brush is the most exciting part of this set in my opinion. I am obsessed with using the deluxe crease brush for blending concealer (as well as the setting brush!) and now they have made one dedicated to concealer. It is pretty similar to the deluxe crease, but in the orange style that always features in the base brushes. You’ll also be able to use this for eyeshadow.
The Real Techniques Ultimate Base Set case is really nice and has a mirror too. There’s a plastic cover for the brush heads to keep the mirror clean – a very clever idea indeed!
The kit costs £20.99 and is available HERE. It will sell like crazy so keep checking the link if it sells out!
