With thanks to The Beauty Hype for this review of Rapid white EXPRESS Instant Whitening System. Please make sure you read her notes about the Tooth Gloss before embarking on this system.

I’m something of a connoisseur when it comes to tooth whitening. In the last five years I have tried in chair whitening at my dentist’s surgery (it hurt and my teeth glowed!) whitening in a shopping centre booth (it hurt, everyone stared, and my teeth glowed even more!) and take home whitening gel for use in custom trays supplied by my dentist (it hurt, but gave a great result).
What I have never tried before now is an at home system like the Rapid White Express Instant Whitening System, a three part system that you don’t need a dentist to supervise, making it a much cheaper way to whiten your teeth by up to four shades.
Step 1: Instant Whitening Toothpaste

The first part of the system is an instant whitening toothpaste that claims to leave teeth up to one and a half shades whiter immediately. Although there is no shade chart supplied with the kit to judge this claim accurately it was obvious after a single brushing that my teeth did look whiter and I have continued using it as a replacement for my normal toothpaste.
Step 2: Dissolving Tooth Whitening Strips

Part two is a series of dissolving whitening strips to be used twice a day for a week. This involves coating your teeth with whitening lotion using a sponge ended applicator and then applying a fine, sticky gel sheet which sticks to your teeth and then dissolves in your mouth over the course of around five minutes leaving behind a powerful minty flavour that feels clean, fresh and vaguely dentisty.
This process is slightly fiddly until you get the hang of it. After applying the lotion you need to be quick to get the strip off the plastic backing and onto your teeth before the need to close your mouth and swallow overwhelms you. This can end up being a slightly inelegant and saliva filled operation at the beginning, probably best done behind the privacy of a locked door if you are near anyone you are keen to impress.
Nonetheless, I found these strips much easier to use than whitening gels from my dentist and importantly they gave me no tooth or gum sensitivity at all, even after a week of use. Even better, my teeth definitely looked whiter after the seven days treatment.
Step 3: Brush On Tooth Gloss

The final stage of the system is a brush-on tooth gloss designed to provide a high shine finish to your teeth. This was the only step that I can’t recommend. Firstly, the gloss has a very strong chemical smell like nail polish or glue that is very off putting to paint on to your teeth. Secondly, after a morning’s wear I noticed that my teeth felt rough, ran to the mirror to inspect them and was horrified to discover that the gloss had become stained by my morning coffee leaving me with strange, rotten looking brown patches all over my teeth; not quite the desired effect from a whitening kit!

Rapid white EXPRESS Instant Whitening System Summary
Overall, despite my problems, excluding the gloss I do think this kit is a great way to achieve whiter teeth, and a fantastic option for those that experience painful teeth and gums with other, harsher whitening options. The whitening effect was less than I’ve experienced with in chair whitening at the dentist, but I actually prefer this gentler more gradual effect as you can control how much whiter your teeth get, stopping if it starts to look unnatural. I would however forego the gloss and use the first two steps on their own, or buy the paste and whitening strips individually.
Rapid White Instant Whitening System is £34.99 and available exclusively from Boots.
She reports that after some serious brushing, nearly all the brown marks have gone from her teeth. Thank you and sorry!
