I’m going to be completely honest. I had absolutely no interest in Primark Beauty. The questions that kept popping into my head when I thought about it were, if it costs a pound what’s in it, and more importantly, how much were the people involved in the production paid to make it? I went along to an event this week because it was organised by one of my favourite PR agencies, and I must confess, I am feeling a lot less negative about it. Here’s a look at the new Primark Beauty Gold Rush Palettes and a bit more info about the line.

Now, first of all, the prices are absolutely incredible. The massive palette, which contains 28 shades, is just £4. It is kind of mind blowing to me. That’s like less than 15 pence a shade and when I start thinking about that it makes me not want to trust it again. However, I am assured that the entire Primark Beauty range is all ethically produced and this is definitely something I have plans to find out more about. If you are interested in that element of things, then watch this space.

This is the 28-shade £4 mega palette. Lucy Bridge, the makeup artist that was demonstrating the product line at the event I attended, actually used some of the shades as highlighters which got me interested.

As you can see, in terms of shades, texture and colour payoff, it is pretty impressive. Some of them are better than others, but if you like shimmer and glitter, you’ll find something you like here.

Personally I prefer the creams to the glitters, but I think that’s down to taste. Plus I think the quality of the creams is more consistent.

This is another £4 palette, this time with nine powder shades and all of them are my kind of colours.

The shades are really nice and the pigmentation is pretty good. Again, some of the shades’ payoff isn’t as good as others, but they are all pretty decent.

It blows my mind that it’s £4. How do they do it? As you’d expect, the packaging is cheap, but it works, apart from one of the glitter pans popped out. But just one, and it popped straight in again.

As I said earlier, my plan is to delve deeper into how they do this and the ethical beauty side of things too. But for now if you are interested, the Primark Beauty Gold Rush Palettes are in store now.

There’s also a really interesting Primark Beauty Nudes collection launching early next year. There’s a double-ended applicator that looks very much like the KKW Beauty cream contour kit brush!

  • Hi Ree! Yesterday I purchased the Primark lip liner and lipstick collection ‘Matte versus Lustre’ which contains 5 matte lipsticks with matching lip liners and 5 lustre lipsticks with matching lip liners. It was on sale for £5!! Reduced from £15! I was rather sceptical of the quality let alone the longevity of these products but boy how wrong was I! I’m a massive lipstick fan, owing high end like Mac to high street, but these (from what I’ve tried so far!) seem fantastic value! I highly recommend them if you can get your hands on one xx

    • I know! It’s kind of mind blowing. I am definitely going to explore the range more, the some of the 2018 launches look super interesting too xx
