If you’re a regular round here, you’ll know that I have been doing a 6 week trial of the Pantene Breakage Defence regime. It’s the first time in a rather a long while that I have consistently used the same products without chopping and changing around, and it has been super easy not having to think about what to use!

And I am not the only one! I had to get extra emergency supplies because my son Ben decided to join me in the challenge and literally cannot get enough of it! It’s quite amusing. He says he’s never going back!

In spite of the fact that I have pretty much had to break the habit of a lifetime, and use the same products over and over, it has been a really great trial. I knew it wouldn’t be a problem as I did a mini pre-trial to ensure I got on with the products before I accepted the challenge, and I have been really impressed with the results over time.

Hy hair type is thick, coarse and porous, so it’s the ideal texture to road test the Pantene Breakage Defence regime as it defends against protein breakdown, caused by copper in our wash water, which ultimately means holes in the hair. Hair with holes is rough hair and so I was looking for increased smoothness, softness and shine.
Pantene Breakage Defence Regime Trial – Before Photos

Now, just feeling my hair, I know that the products have been effective because it feels so much softer, particularly after it has just been washed. I can often get my hair to look like it’s in good condition with the use of styling products and treatments, but what struck me with this is how great it has been looking before I have even done anything to it.
Pantene Breakage Defence Regime Trial – After Photos

Both these set of photos are after just washing and then blasting dry with the hairdryer, before any styling. In the first set you can see that the hair appears more coarse and lacks shine. However, in the second set of photos, before any kind of styling, the hair looks smoother and more lustrous with enhanced shine. I actually found that I haven’t styled my hair quite as much as it looks pretty good without any effort.
I have really enjoyed this trial and can certainly see the difference that removing copper from the wash water makes. To read about the full Pantene Breakage Defence Regime and the science behind it, check out my first post.
These products will be regulars in my bathroom – not least because my hair loves them, but also because Ben is addicted! He likes having soft hair! Find the full range at Boots.
