When I spotted this in Sephora I literally swooped on it because when I last met with the Murad girls, they were very excited about this upcoming product. This is the Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield SPF30 which promises to deliver quite a few of the things that I want in a product, all in one!

So what we are looking at here is a treatment, an SPF and a primer all in one bottle. More than anything, I am obsessed with wearing sun protection on a daily basis and I have quite a few SPF30 products but none of them are as invisible as this! This is a completely clear gel that is invisible on the skin and also goes quite a long way to blur imperfections (including pores and fine lines) and prime the skin for long-lasting foundation wear.

  • SPF 30 sun protection

This is a super lightweight formula that melts into the skin and delivers an instant improvement in the appearance of pores and fine lines. It doesn’t give as dramatic an instant result as some of the heavier silicone based primers that I have tried, but I am happy with that as none of them are this multi-tasking.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Actives & Ingredients

  • Mushroom Peptides: Fight visible signs of aging to help restore youthful-looking firmness, elasticity, and skin resilience
  • Soft-focus Complex: Smooths skin and blurs imperfections for improved tone and texture to create an ideal canvas for makeup application
  • Barley, Sunflower, and Cucumber Extracts: Enhance skin’s ability to retain moisture.

The Mushroom peptides work by helping to the natural regulation of collagen and elastin. The soft-focus formula subtly smooths and blurs and can be used on all skin tones as it is perfectly invisible. I think this may be the first fully clear and invisible SPF 30 I have come across.

This high tech sunscreen formula is called Murasol and it provides protection against both broad spectrum UV rays and free-radicals. It uses a “proprietary blend of powerful antioxidants which defend against UV damage by penetrating skin’s top layers and creating a protective barrier of encapsulated free radical neutralizers”. That is what I call an SPF with benefits!

I was actually hoping for a little bit more ‘blur’ than this, but to be fair, whenever I have seen more blurring, the product usually feels really heavy and is purely cosmetic, rather then progressive. The mark under my eye on the right side is a kitten scratch, in case you were wondering. I can definitely notice an improvement once my foundation is applied.

I am really excited to keep trying this as not only does it make my skin appear more even toned and smooth, my foundation applies beautifully on top (I let it sink in for a few minutes before applying foundation) and it has so far extended the wear time of my makeup. It feels light on the skin and I completely forget I have it on.

But the main reason I want to continue to use this, is the long-term anti-ageing and skin benefits it promises. And of course, how exciting is a completely clear SPF30?!

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield is already available on the US Murad site and at Sephora in the US where I purchased it for $65. It is set to launch in the UK in July 2015 and costs £55.

  1. Hi Ree!

Looks like a very interesting product! Would you say that this would be a good daily sunscreen for oily skin during the summer? I know you don’t have oily skin, but I’m assuming the gel texture means it would be good for all skin types?

Also, I hope you don’t mind me saying – I think you should do closeups of your face just like those in this article when you’re doing foundation reviews. I personally feel it would be more helpful and also a great addition to the full face ones you do now.

    Have a lovely day 🙂 x

    1. Yes I think it would be good for oily skin, it has a nice matte finish. I will just double check for you.

And yes, I will try. Thanks for the suggestion!

    2. Just checked and fine for oily skin – It is non-comedogenic so won’t clog pores or make any oily matters worse. It also does leave a matte finish which oily skins may like but it’s not designed to mattify oil like the Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15.

      1. Thank you so much Ree for checking! looks like it’s a product that will really cut down on a few layers skin care wise in the warm summer months, very interesting!
