It’s a well known fact within the beauty community that Bourjois make the most incredible foundations. In fact, they are easily comparable to their high end counterparts and prove that you don’t need to spend a fortune for a flawless looking complexion. I also have quite a collection of their concealers and they are brilliant; I often choose them over super expensive ones. I have teamed up with Bourjois to show you some of my morning healthy makeup routine products.
I have been using the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation since about 2010 when I first discovered it. Impressively, it has kept its place in my foundation wardrobe in spite of tough competition from the one million and one new launches from across a range of brands over the last seven years!
I was slightly nervous when I heard that Bourjois had reformulated Healthy Mix because I loved it just the way it was. It’s genuinely one of the best ones available on the high street. The good news is that the new formulation is even better because guess what?! There’s more glow! Yay (and thank goodness!). The glow comes from the new radiance boosting formula enriched with Vitamins C, E & B5.
My Morning Healthy Makeup Routine
I always like my skin to look fresh, healthy and radiant and although I rely on skincare for a lot of that, first thing in the morning, it never looks as healthy as I want it to! You’ll never see any ‘I woke up like this’ selfies from me!! Foundation and concealer are without doubt my favourite makeup items and I truly believe that if you get that right, everything else is easy.
Step One – Foundation
My morning healthy makeup routine always begins with a glowy base and the new Healthy Mix seriously delivers on that front. Here’s my naked face:
And here it is with a light layer of new Healthy Mix in shade 51 Light Vanilla:
I used to use shade 53 but my skin has got paler over the years as I have protected it more and more from the sun, and now I am 51. Interestingly, along with the reformulation, Bourjois have added three new shades to the line up – 50 Rose Ivory, 57 Bronze and 58 Caramel – meaning even more people with be able to find their perfect Healthy Mix match.
Step Two – Concealer
I am nearly as obsessed with concealer as I am with foundation (maybe it’s equal?!). Healthy Mix concealer has also been reformulated and repackaged and it is absolutely beautiful. It adds luminosity and really wakes up tired eyes so it’s a perfect morning step. I use shade 51.
It blends in really easily. When I’m at home I use the Real Techniques setting brush, but I also love to top up during the days as it really helps soften the appearance of lines as dehydration starts to set as the day goes on. When I’m out and about I simply tap it in with my fingertip.
The spherical powders blur imperfections whilst light-reflection pigments brighten everything up.
Step Three – Eyes
I am no expert when it comes to makeup. I always wear mascara and have been trying out the new one from Elizabeth Arden. For eyeshadow the Smoky Stories are such an easy option and Bourjois have just launched two new colourways. No 13 Taupissime is perfect for day time.
Step Four – Lips & Cheeks
The easiest daytime look is a soft sheeny lip stain which can also double as a cheek colour for speed and ease.
I did a little blend of shade 03 and 07 of the new Bourjois Rouge Laque, dotted on and pressed in with my fingers. I used what was left on my finger on the apples of my cheek as a long lasting blush. It really works and keeps skin looking nice and juicy.
And that’s it! My morning healthy makeup routine is pretty simple and all about radiance. I tend to skip powder as I’m a bit of a powder-phobe and I do find Healthy Mix sets itself really well on my combination skin. Lovely!
