What is Maybelline Instant Anti Age Perfector 4 in 1 Glow Makeup?

So this is a product that promises to do it all and I find the format so appealing. I am a huge fan of the Age Rewind concealer – it always features in my annual Best Concealers blog post, so I had high hopes.

It is a multi-purpose product that is designed to carry out a multitude of complexion tasks:

• Promises to deliver a perfected glow
• Designed to prime, conceal, highlight and even out skin tone
• Delivers a light coverage
• Uses a built on sponge with an anti-microbial system
• Available in 7 self-adjusting shades designed to blend seamlessly into a range of skin tones 

My Review

I think this is a really nice product for when you want a little something but aren’t looking for the flawlessness that many foundations give. If you do want to use this as a light base, you can use concealer to tackle any imperfections you wish to correct, whilst keeping a nice, glowy look.

I find it pretty sheer on its own, and although I think it’s great for evening out redness, and giving the skin a more harmonious look, I can still see a lot of my pigmentation through this. So if I am going for a ‘makeup’ look, I need a bit more than this.

It’s lovely under makeup for an extra bit of glow, and also means you can use less foundation and just focus on where you need more coverage.

I enjoy the sponge applicator, it makes it really easy to apply quickly. Plus I love the fact that the sponge has an anti-microbial system. You just need to wipe off excess but don’t need to wash it (in fact, Maybelline say it shouldn’t get wet).

Does it crease and settle into lines?

I haven’t found that it settles into lines at all so far as it’s so nice and sheer.

What are the 4 things it does?

The Maybelline Instant Anti Age Perfector 4 in 1 Glow Makeup has been designed to carry out four different makeup functions. You can use it to prime, highlight, even out skin tone, and conceal.

Which of the 4 functions does it do best?

For me, I think this makes a lovely glowy skin perfecting primer and this is probably my favourite way to use it. Personally, I find it a little too sheer for concealing, but as I said, it does a good job on redness. It’s also lovely as a subtle highlighter.

How does it compare to Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter?

The Maybelline Instant Anti Age Perfector 4 in 1 Glow Makeup is a very similar product to the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter (see review and swatches here). I find that the Maybelline has a bit less coverage and applies less smoothly.

It is also perhaps slightly less glowy than the Charlotte Tilbury. I think it’s a great budget option. Please let me know if you have any more questions on this.

Does it give any coverage?

There is coverage in this product which is enough to conceal redness, however, it is pretty sheer and doesn’t cover my pigmentation.

Does it accentuate pores?

I don’t find that it accentuates pores.

Does it replace foundation?

I think that if you like something really sheer, this could be a good alternative to foundation. You can top up coverage in the places that you need it if you want a more perfected look. Personally, this doesn’t replace foundation for me, but I will use it on no makeup days when I want a little something. It definitely gives a lovely hydrated and juicy look to the skin.
