Well now that Makeup Forever has well and truly arrived in UK High Streets (thank you Debenhams), it is time to get stuck in what is new and exciting! In this post I am looking at the brand new Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation.

Now I should start by saying that I haven’t actually tried the original HD foundation from Makeup Forever so if you are looking for a comparison post then I am sad to say that I am not going to be able to help you with that. I have, however, tried the Makeup Forever Face & Body foundation and really liked it. This one is pretty different and I like it even more.

So Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation is, as you will probably have gathered, a skin base created for the latest high-definition technologies of film and TV and has been developed to look invisible on 4K camera and also to the naked eye.

I love the texture of this foundation. It has a lovely fluidity but isn’t at all runny. It is incredibly easy to blend and I found the Zoeva 102 Silk Finish brush absolutely perfect to lightly buff it into the skin. It almost disappears into the skin while it visibly evens out texture and tone.
It seems to cover my freckles very lightly (which I love) without actually looking like it is covering my skin. Now that it what I am looking for!

Love the finish of this on my skin and it looked really natural and lasted very well all day. I was a bit shiny towards the end but to be fair it was a hot day and I spent time on public transport. It didn’t feel like I was wearing foundation at all and my skin felt smooth and hydrated.
Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation is available HERE in 40 shades. The letter at the front of the number – mine is Y – indicates the colour base – R for red, Y for yellow. Then the numbers rise as the shades get darker.

I have both foundations and I think the new Ultra HD is better because I prefer medium to sheer coverage over medium-to-full. Ultra HD makes my skin look more natural, not so “done”. Other people hate the new formulation precisely because they don’t get as much coverage. When you read the reviews on Sephora’s website, you’ll find that people either hate it with a passion or love it.
This is my fav foundation ever
