Long-wear lipsticks are big business now and everyone wants to apply once and go! But with big business comes big bucks and what if you can’t find one in your perfect shade? Here are some tips and tricks to turn your fave lipstick into a long lasting power house. Just a few easy hints on how to make lipstick last!
1.Prep the lips
Everything in makeup starts with good preparation and even the best lipstick in the world (however you decide what that is) won’t look good on top of dry, peeling lips. You can buy lip scrubs that will do the job but going DIY will work just as well. You can mix in some sugar with your fave lip balm and massage it into your lips before you cleanse. Use a cotton bud to target any patches and gently move it in a circular motion to loosen any dry skin.
2.Prime the lips
The most long lasting products are usually matte ones, and when it comes to the lips, it’s a good idea to make sure they are moisturised first to avoid them drying out. Use a slick of balm over the lips and tissue off the excess. If they are too greasy, lip colour will slide right off.
3. Line the Lips
Lip liner is great for making your lipstick stay put and prevent any unsightly bleeding. To save the fuss of colour matching, clear liners are the best options. Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip Liner is completely colourless and you can use it to line the lips to keep your lip colour in place.
4. Apply the colour
Lightly apply the colour to lips either directly from the bullet or with a lip brush, whichever you are most comfortable with.
5. Blot
Use just one ply of a face tissue to remove excess product.
6. Apply and blot again
By applying thin layers, you work the colour evenly into the lips for super staying power. You can repeat this process as many times as you like.
7. Set
Using a light, translucent powder set the lipstick by gently pressing it over the lips. Altenatively, and to intensify the colour, you can use a powder blush that matches the lip shade. Perfect!
If you wish, you can layer your lipstick, blot and set one more time depending on how far you want to take it. All day lip perfection in your perfect shade will be yours!

Thank you! xx
I really need to follow these tips. Liostick never lasts more than a couple of hours on me, all except the Bourjois Velvet Matte
let us know how you get on! xx
Thanks for these tips! Will definitely try them out the next time I apply darker lipsticks. I’ve been loving quite a few from the Rimmel Kate Moss line, but they come off after quite a while and I want them to stay on longer!
