Facial cleansing brushes have been around for a few years now but I’ve never actually tried one. So, when I was given the opportunity to try the Magnitone London Precious Collection I jumped at the chance.
Magnitone London was founded in 2013 by David and Asher. They’ve gone from humble beginnings to now being stocked in hundreds of salons, spas and both high street and online retailers throughout the UK. The concept behind the Magnitone collection was to create an everyday product that you didn’t need to be an engineer to use. It should fit effortlessly into your everyday routine.
Magnitone uses Vibra-Sonic(TM) technology to ensure your skin is deep cleansed whilst enjoying a toning massage. Using the brush is said to be 6X more effective than hand washing(see my opinion on this below), offering results in just 4 weeks. This results in skin that is clearer, brighter and with less blackheads. In fact, in a recent study of 51 people, over 90% agreed with these claims. Pretty impressive stats I’m sure you’ll agree.
Magnitone handsets are rechargeable, the charging pebble is magnetic and the charging lead is quite long too, which is nice.
The handsets have 2 modes. Press once and you’ll be in daily cleanse mode, a timer will beep every 20 seconds to remind you to move to a different area (suggested areas are T-zone, cheeks and neck). If you press twice it takes you into the PulseLift(TM) toning mode, a mini workout for your skin.
Magnitone advise you to use the brush for just 1 minute a day. It is fully waterproof so can be taken into the shower, it really is a minimum effort beauty tool that can be incorporated into your daily routine with ease. The brush comes with the standard head but other heads are available to purchase too, these can be used for exfoliating etc. I used the standard brush head with a cream cleanser, avoiding anything with particles in as per the instructions.
I received my Magnitone and immediately removed my make-up so I could try it. It comes charged so is ready to use out of the box. My skin used to be dry but following a course of medication it has become oily on my t-zone and normal elsewhere. In particular, I have problems with my nose as it has obvious pores that are a dark brown in colour. Having tried numerous exfoliating scrubs etc without any success I wasn’t honestly holding out much hope. I was seriously wrong!
I applied a cream based cleanser to the brush head, pressed go and started on my forehead. There is no need to press hard, just gently guiding it across your skin is enough, the brush will do the rest for you. The bristles are incredibly soft and at no point did I feel my skin was being scratched. I used for the 1 minute and removed the residual cleanser with a muslin cloth. Wow! My skin was so soft and smooth and there was no shine to my skin, it was mattified. I touched my nose and didn’t feel any oil on it which is the first time in a long time.
I have used the brush for 7 days now, trying 3 different cleansers on it and I’m converted. My skincare products absorb more easily so I use less of them, my skin stays matte pretty much all day and my nose looks almost normal now. I’m sure with continued use it will look better still.
My husband is not a high maintenance man, in fact he washes his face with handwash-yuck! Nonetheless he has actually noticed my skin and asked to try the Magnitone himself! He was pleased with how soft it made his skin and I now have to get him the mens’ one, even he can cope with 1 minute of pampering per day.
Overall I am really impressed and I will now purchase the exfoliating head to see how that works with my favourite microdermabrasion scrub. I am a convert to facial brushes now I’ve seen the difference.
