OK so who isn’t curious about MAC Velvetease?? Oh my goodness, the second I read that name I was literally chomping at the bit! These are matte lip pencils that you twist up and apply for a soft velvety matte lip look.

MAC are doing extremely well with matte lips at the moment. I LOVE the liquid lipsticks – shade Feels So Grand in particular, and being quite a fan of matte lips and lip pencils, I was so thrilled to see MAC get involved. Even more so because you don’t have to sharpen these ones, as they are a mechanical twist up format. Yay!!!

MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil Features
- Colour impact of a lipstick with the ease of a mechanical pencil
- No sharpener needed
- 12 shades across deeps, reds, pink and nudes
- Rich and matte
- Smooth, clean finish
- Comfortable feel on the lips
MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil Shades

It’s a lovely line up and from what I have seen (I have 3 shades), they really are beautifully pigmented. They deliver full on colour with the lightest touch.

Tease Me:

These pencils apply really nicely. The shape and size of the nib makes them ideal for lining then filling in the lips, so you can skip liner if you wish. They feel creamy on the lips, with no drying feel. I found the pink, Tease Me, a little more difficult to apply as it seemed to go a little patchy. This is a bit of a theme with MAC mattes in pink, as I found the same with the Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colours.
The difference between those and MAC Velvetease is wear time. The pencils are not formulated to be long wear as far as I know, and they fade like a normal lipstick. You’ll need to re-apply during the day. That’s fine though, as the pencils are a handy size and the twist-up format makes it easy to touch up.
I love them and Reddy to Go is my fave. I have found the matte red lip and now I can’t stop!
