Good old Elnett have come up with a hairspray with a texturising formula to deliver strong hold and back combed volume that promises to disappear at the stroke of a brush.
I have been using the original Elnett for a really long time – I think it’s great and every bit deserves its iconic status. This new Elnett Volume Excess formula contains texturising powders that “wrap hair to perfectly mimic the backcomb effect while keeping hair silky soft and shiny”. Perfect! And it does work.
Here’s a couple of before and after shots – before:

You don’t quite get the dramatic volume that you get with some good dry shampoos but then you don’t get that heavy, almost dirty, feel either. Also it’s quite buildable so you can get good volume by layering it in.
I find it particularly effective if I lift sections, spray into the roots & then massage with my fingers:

It’s also great sprayed down the lengths to give that lived in look:

It holds really well too – which is what you’d expect from an Elnett strong hold product. So it’s good news all round.
And true enough, Elnett Volume Excess brushes out fairly easily leaving your hair near enough to how it started, feeling clean and fresh, if indeed you started off with clean and fresh hair! It doesn’t wash it for you!
I’m loving this and I’ll be sure to keep a can of this in my hair stash. Elnett Volume Excess Hairspray costs £4 for 200ml. Find it at Boots.

Thanks for the hair tip. I do want to try dry shampoo. Your hair looks beautiful, btw. Nice curls.

love this, it works amazing with long/short choppy layers
I might give this a try since I hate the feeling that dry shampoo gives my hair 🙂

Hi!
This hairspray looks amazing, but the Elnett classic scent always bugged me, I don’t like it at all! Does this one smell the same way? And how does the hair feel after aplying it? Crunchy and stiff? Thank youu
I’m so sorry I can’t remember how it smells. I love the Elnett smell though!
