L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Range Review

It’s surprisingly hard to find a high street option for oily hair. I’ve been using a Kerastase one for some time (this one if you’re interested), which has really turned my hair around. Plus with more and more celebs saying they wash their hair as little as possible, you have to wonder how they actually manage to do that. My fringe looks greasy after a commute on the underground, so who knows how much dry shampoo these people get through after a workout?
There is a solution though, and that’s cleansing your hair in a more bespoke fashion rather than throwing talcum powder at your head. Dry hair has had a field day in the last few years with various oils being heralded as wonder conditioning products that drive our roots ever greasier. Finally we have a drugstore option to deal with this in the form of L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay range. The range consists of a Re-balancing Shampoo (£2.89) and conditioner (£2.89), a clay masque pre shampoo treatment (£5.99), an anti-dandruff shampoo (£2.89 – my chap is trialling this and very much looking forward to having fluid, free-flowing lengths as the bottle suggests), and a dry shampoo (£3.99). Bar the masque (my hair isn’t greasy enough to give this a whirl), we’ve got the works in our bathroom for a test.
And it’s pretty good. I’m hard to convince with drugstore shampoos, but the result is soft and fresh hair, that isn’t dried out at the ends and manages to hold on for an extra day between washes and wing it through a tentative work out. It even gives the Kerastase a run for its money. The dry shampoo is lighter than Batiste, with a finer aerosol spray and has become resident in my desk for after work. It smells fresh and light. I like a slightly heavier conditioner for my ends, but that’s largely out of habit. It’s perfectly satisfying. My chap loves the light conditioner to keep his hair happy without making it greasy – compared to his usual fare he said it felt very luxurious without being heavy.
I’m not usually an Elvive fan but I find myself pleasantly surprised at the fresh, light results. If you’ve tried the masque then let us know in the comments below if it’s worked for you. You can find the whole range to order online HERE.
