The liquid lipstick trend does not appear to be going anywhere soon. Mattes are now being joined by shimmers and metallics. L.A. Girl have produced a range of eighteen jewel and nude tone shades. The L.A. Girl Metal Liquid Lipsticks creamy non-drying formula applies smoothly and evenly with a metallic sheen. I was very generously sent all eighteen shades to swatch for you.
The first six are:
- Fetish – a vibrant blue, certainly not one for the faint hearted but great to make a statement
- Molten- a gorgeous fiery red which is lovely and pigmented
- Lustrous- a more berry toned red, great for Autumn/Winter
- Satin Gold – a taupe shade perfect for everyday
- Brilliant – a vibrant cool toned red
- Champagne- as the name suggests a Champagne gold, quite subtle
The next 6 are:
- Copper- exactly as described a creamy copper tone
- Opulent – a rose toned brown shade, quite neutral still
- Golden – a slightly deeper gold shade, more of a mid tone
- Smolder – a copper/bronze mix
- Polished – a peach toned neutral
- Galvanize – a deeper grey toned brown
The final 6 are:
- Bronzed – a deep bronze shade
- Treasure – a bold pigmented cherry red
- Prism- a deep scarlet
- Illuminate – a light golden peach shade
- Flashy – a very bold purple
- Lavish – a deep bronze shade
All shades are very creamy and pigmented, even those that are slightly paler in colour. They are a lot more forgiving on drier lips than matte shades. I always recommend using a good lip scrub and lip moisturiser prior to application to ensure lips are as smooth as can be. Once excess lip balm has been absorbed then you can apply straight from the wand. These have an interesting doe foot/flat paddle applicator.
I didn’t use a lip liner when I wore these and had no issues of bleeding even with the red shades. I don’t believe these are marketed as long wear and I wouldn’t say that they are. They lasted as well as a normal lipstick would, so be prepared to reapply after eating and drinking.
For the price I would say this a great range to try. On first inspection the more neutral shades look very similar but once swatched you can see there is a difference.
Which shades will you try first?

I do like LA Girl as a brand. I haven’t tried any of their lip products. I’m not into a shimmery/metallic lip colour. I would like to try more LA Girl products though. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com
