If you’re anything like me, there are certain imaginary boxes that you like a new eyeshadow palette to tick. I like to think of them as the “making of my dream palette”. I’m talking pretty packaging, beautiful colours and great pigmentation. The limited edition Vanitas collection from Illamasqua launches on July 7th (here) and the Illamasqua Vanitas Rose Gold Palette just happens to have it all. If you’re an eyeshadow palette fan, or even just a makeup obsessive, you’re going to want to keep reading! Let’s jump into the detail…
The Illamasqua Vanitas Collection is all about bringing the dark romance of the 17th century to 2016. It’s inspired by still-life paintings, with washed out shades of rose and brown, plus strong purple hues all playing their part.
The Illamasqua Vanitas Rose Gold Palette is the palette I’ve dreamt about. It perfectly balances the light shades with the dramatic colours to give you everything you need, no matter what look you want to create. You can see by the swatches that there’s everything from very light shades to the rich super-pigmented colours, which Illamasqua offer us in every single collection.
Illamasqua Vanitas Rose Gold Palette Shades & Swatches
The Illamasqua Vanitas Rose Gold Palette has a range of matte and shimmer shades. Instead of the standard four shades, this palette features 12 of Illamasqua’s best-selling shades, while introducing two new shades; a new plum and black coffee.
The shadows are well pigmented and they offer some really good staying power. Getting the darker shades off my arm was no easy task! They are rich and they blend beautifully, they offer everything we know and love from the Illamasqua brand. Some of the shades in the palette include; Slink, Stealth, Servant, Vernau, Bronx, Tango, Forgiveness, Wolf and Rim.
The colours are all wrapped up in strong cardboard palette, which is covered in rose gold. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen from Illamasqua. The brand is well known for the plastic, hard wearing cases, so I think it’s a shame that they have missed a trick with this palette. Whilst the packaging makes it light and compact, I feel like I’d be scared to chuck this in a suitcase or travel makeup bag. It’s okay though, as this palette can live on my dressing table, where I can swoon over it and give it all the love it deserves.
Let’s be honest, this palette is a beauty blogger’s dream! I’m so excited to see 12 Illamasqua shades in one palette and I’m so pleased that the shades are all so pretty and wearable. The Illamasqua Vanitas Rose Gold Palette retails for £44 is available from 7th July 2016 exclusively HERE. It is limited edition so grab it if you like it!
