I love Guerlain foundations, so I was super excited to try Guerlain l’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation. I have photos, swatches and before and after photos for you!
So I am a big Lingerie de Peau fan, both the original and the cushion, however it’s all about a sheerer, light to medium coverage and I do have a bit of an addition to fuller coverage formulas. Enter the brand new Guerlain l’Essentiel which I have been testing out! It is super beautiful – look at the amazing bottles!
Guerlain l’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation Features
This foundation is all about a high coverage yet natural looking finish with lots of skin kind ingredients:
- 16-hour glow with a natural, breathable finish
- Formulated with 97% natural origin ingredients
- Uses mineral pigments and marine and plant active ingredients
- The remaining 3% help to optimise the formula’s integrity over time and its sensory qualities
- Creates an even, luminous finish
- Refines the look of pores and smooths the look of fine lines
- Maintains the skin’s microbiota with a pre- and probiotic blend
- Comfortable second-skin texture with a lightweight finish
- Claims to make pores & pigmentation less noticeable after a month
- Available in 30 shades here
This foundation has a gorgeous silky smooth texture that goes onto the skin effortlessly. It’s really easy to build up the coverage and the formula fuses seamlessly with the skin as it is applied. What I think is really interesting is the pre and probiotic element. This formula uses technology which works to maintain the skin’s natural ecosystem throughout the day and does not destabilise the microbiota. This is pretty unique for a foundation formula.
Guerlain l’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation Swatches
The foundation comes in 30 shades which is pretty good:
I was matched to shade 01N which is lighter than my previous Guerlain shade – I was 2 before. However my skin is paler and also I think you can get away with a slightly deeper shade when the formulation is sheerer.
Before and After
The formula feels lovely and fresh as it goes on to the skin which is super pleasant. It blends effortlessly and you can layer up the coverage where you need it without it looking cakey or too much like makeup. It has a very soft glow when first applied, and then after about 15 minutes I think the glow develops into a much dewier, extremely pretty finish. I love it.
Check out this instagram post for a full makeup look.
It isn’t heavy on this skin, but not totally weightless either. I can feel it but in a way that my skin feels nourished, moisturised and plumped up.
I’m really loving this. I have been wearing this quite a lot without powdering and love the dewy finish. It lasts longer on the T-zone with powder, but I am able to skip this step and just do little touch ups during the day as I usually do.
The Guerlain l’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation is £44 and available exclusively HERE now.

Cool bottle and the foundation looks really good on too! But I’m not too keen about Guerlains scented foundations, so is it heavy scented?
more of a subtle scent than their other makeup xx
Hi Ree, which one do you prefer from you last posts: Hourglass Vanistendael liquid, Dior Foever Glow or the Guerlain one ?
The Guerlain is my fave. xxx
I love the bottle and it looks soo pretty, but the colour range is… sad, to say the least.
xx

Hi Ree, thanks for your review. Do you prefer this foundation to Dior Forever Skin Glow? I am 42, with a good but pretty dry skin. Thanks!
Hi there! This foundation is great for dry skin. Yes I do prefer it to the Dior one. It’s one of my faves xx
