I have been getting lots of questions about the pros and cons of the new ghd Unplugged vs Dyson Corrale cordless straighteners, so I have made a video and rounded up my thoughts. I hope this helps!

Price Comparison
In terms of pricing, the ghd Unplugged vs Dyson Corrale is a tough one because neither is cheap!!
The ghd Unplugged straightener comes it at a fairly hefty £299 which I think is quite a bit more than most customers were expecting.
The Dyson Corrale is £399, which again is very pricey and a third more expensive than its ghd counterpart. However, I feel that people are less surprised at the Dyson pricing, as the brand has never particularly sat in the affordable range!
I think answering the question, are either of them worth it, is very much down to how much use you think you will get out of them. Hopefully, this post will help you to ascertain that.
How long do they last
As detailed in the specifications table above. There is a difference between the two cordless straighteners when it comes to styling time.
Fully charged, the ghd Unplugged will give you 20 minutes, whereas the Corrale gives you 30 minutes.
Can they be used corded?
I think this is a pretty important question, because no one wants to run out of power with half their hair done. Especially when it takes over an hour (in both cases) to power them back up.
The Dyson Corrale is the winner here because it can be used plugged in. You will be safe with that one as long as you have the charger with you and access to electricity.
However, the ghd Unplugged cannot be used plugged in. So if you don’t make it to the end of your style, I’m afraid you will be half done for a good chunk of time!
Style Comparisons
In terms of the styles you can create, I’d say they do a very similar job. Personally, I find the plates on the Dyson more smoothing and shine enhancing on my coarse hair type.

My Verdict – ghd Unplugged vs Dyson Corrale
I think that deciding between which cordless straightener to go for will come down to two main things:
- What is your budget?
- What do you want to use it for?
If budget is an issue, then the obvious choice is ghd because it is a whole £100 cheaper. That’s a fair chunk.
Also, if you want to use it for ‘on-the-go’ styling, and carry it in your handbag, then once again, you might need the ghd Unplugged (unless you have a huge handbag and I have to say, I have popped my Corrale in my handbag before!).
However, if you mainly style your hair at home, and budget is less of an issue, then I really recommend the Corrale. This is because I think it delivers a slightly more elegant styling experience.
Also, I think if you have longer or thicker hair, the Dyson may suit you better because the charge lasts longer and it’s quicker to charge. Also, if you do run out of battery, you can use the corded styling as a backup.
I hope this is helpful.
