I think you probably know that I am a big fan of including sun protection as a part of my anti-ageing skincare. I truly believe that it is THE first step in dealing with the ageing process and for me, it is all about the high factors – I tend to favour SPF 50. My go to skin base at the moment, which fits in on top of my moisturiser, and under makeup is the Estee Lauder DayWear SPF 50.

As you can it comes out very lightly green but blends in really well, leaving a light feeling and radiant finish. It is slightly thicker than the regular DayWear moisturiser, but considering it packs a strong protection punch, it has a very comfortable texture and works extremely well under my makeup.
I think it is really important to choose your SPF wisely, and I feel very safe in the knowledge that Estee Lauder have conducted extensive, expensive research and exhasutive testing that smaller companies will not have been able to afford.
In fact, Dr Marko Lens, founder of Zelens skincare advises that we should only really trust the big guys when it comes to sun care – Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, Boots (Soltan).
Estee Lauder DayWear SPF 50 does suit my skin and I find the formula completely non-irritating, even on the areas that are prone to eczema. As a comparison, I do not get on well with the SPF formulation in Clinique’s City Block at all and it really dries out my skin. I think this could be the reason that the Clinique CC Cream did not work for me at all.
I love that the DayWear SPF 50 is also packed full of anti-oxidants so it has an extra anti-ageing element. I do, however, also apply a think layer of moisturiser underneath.
Estee Lauder DayWear SPF 50 is £33, it’s pricey but sun protection is worth investing in. Order it from Boots and John Lewis.
A cheaper alternative is Soltan Face Moisturising Suncare Cream SPF50+ – I am a fan of this too and it does the same job, it’s just less luxurious.

does the cream look little green?? anyways nice review, even i like sunscreen alot 🙂
Hey Ree! but the truly important ageing rays are UVA not just UV! those are the ones that prevent skin from dangerous tanning, UVA are the ones that age your face and if you want to protect yourself from them, your protection must state that in the packaging. The one I go for is the Clinique City Block, also pricey, but soooo worth it!
Hi – yes DayWear has broad spectrum protection which means UVA & UVB. I always protect my skin from UVA. The Boots one has both too.
Clinique sunscreen dries out my skin!
