This is a super exciting launch that I had to stay quiet about until now! I have been testing out the new Elizabeth Arden RETINOL Ceramide Capsules for a little over a month and they are a bit of a game-changer. Here’s what you need to know. Oh and …. rose gold capsules!

Now, I have always been a little fearful of using retinol because, while I’m all about reversing the signs of ageing, I hate it when my skin flakes and makeup doesn’t sit well on it. Retinol is a powerful collagen boosting active but it can cause peeling, so I have been a little cautious. Then these rose gold capsules came along!
Elizabeth Arden RETINOL Ceramide Capsules Features
So these little rose gold capsules address quite a few of the issues that using Retinol presents. The key ones include skin irritation and the fact that the Retinol molecule is extremely sensitive to light and air. The new Retinol capsules:
- Combine powerful anti-ageing benefits of Retinol with skin strengthening Ceramides
- This combination protects skin from the dryness associated with Retinol use
- Additional Peptides boost anti-ageing benefit with increased smoothing & elasticity
- Feature a blend of oils, including Avocado, Sunflower Seed & Olive, moisturise & condition the skin
- Capsule format allows precise dosage to prevent over-application
- Pod protects the Retinol from air and light ensuring maximum potency for each application
The potency of the Elizabeth Arden RETINOL Ceramide Capsules was tested against non encapsulated products over a 10 month shelf life period and they were shown to be 76% more potent. This means that even over time, you are getting full value of the product that you’ve paid for.
It’s Not Just About Lines & Wrinkles
What’s really cool about Retinol, and in particular these Retinol capsules, is that it works on more than just wrinkles. In fact, the molecule addresses a whole host of skin concerns including skin texture, tone, general skin health and the appearance of enlarged pores. I think my pores bother me nearly as much as lines, so this is major for me! Because these are powerful yet gentle, my skin texture hasn’t suffered with flaking and peeling.
Why do People Go Wrong with Retinol?
What can sometimes cause irritation with Retinol is using the wrong amount. If you use too much, it doesn’t make it more effective, it just makes it more irritating. Also, if your retinol is unstable, ie has been exposed to air and light, it loses its efficacy so you’re not getting the power of the product you purchased.
This is the genius of taking Elizabeth Arden iconic capsule approach (they changed the game when they launched Ceramide capsules back in 1990) to Retinol. Not only have they combined it with peptides and ceramides to boost its anti-ageing action and buffer negative side effects, but it comes super fresh and in the exact dose you need. Done and done!
I have been using the Elizabeth Arden RETINOL Ceramide Capsules nightly for just over a month and I absolutely love them. I cleanse my skin, apply an essense or lotion, and then use a capsule over my face, neck and decollete. Once it has sunk in, I apply a night cream.
The following morning, I carry out my usual regime – light cleanse, lotion, serum, moisturiser – and I always finish with an SPF. I use one all year round anyway, but it’s extra important if you’re using Retinol, as it makes skin more sensitive to sunlight. That’s why is always makes sense to use Retinol at night only.
I love what it has done to my skin texture so far. Even though it has been a super hot summer, I haven’t suffered with any pigmentation issues and I definitely think I have seen an improvement in pore size. Considering it has only been a month, and a full skin cycle is three months, I am super happy with what I have seen so far. Also, I haven’t really been a regular Retinol user until now and I have suffered with no skin irritation at all. Excellent!
If I am away for the night, I just take one capsule with me and so they are incredibly space saving and perfect for travel.
The Elizabeth Arden RETINOL Ceramide Capsules are £42 for 30 capsules and £72 for 60 capsules. They are available HERE now.
