Oh lord! It’s Snail Gel! Whatever next? I must admit that I balked a bit when I laid eyes on the Dr Organic Snail Gel at the Holland Press Day but right now I think I am coming round to the idea!

So! Dr Organic Snail Gel is a moisturising, soothing, anti-ageing gel that uses Helix Aspersa Muller which is a unique substance that snails produce to regenerate their shells and skin when they have been damaged. Studies have shown that Helix Aspersa Muller contains a cocktail of glycolic acid, collagen, elastin, allatoin, vitamins and minerals.
The fact that snail slime contains all that, without even trying, has kind of brought me round to idea of including Snail Gel into my beauty regime (that and the fact that apparently Katie Holmes loves it!!).
Apparently the power of snail gel was discovered when someone noticed that snail farmers in Chile had super soft hands that healed really fast. Then a tonne of research revealed that snail filtrate and everything that comes with it was responsible for this.
Along with the snail slime in Dr Organic’s Snail Gel is Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Lime Oil and Litsea Cubeba Oil. You apply it onto cleansed skin, let it absorb and then follow with moisturiser. I have used it a few times now – its citrussy, sherbet lemony smell distract me from the snailiness of it – and it sinks in super fast and keeps my skin really hydrated and smooth.
I haven’t been using it for that long, but because it is so weird I couldn’t wait to write about it, so I shall have to update you on the long-term benefits another time. But I am totally up for this. It is going to be my pre-serum/moisturiser step and I’m quite excited about that! Somehow I have gotten over my snail phobia – it may have something to do with seeing Turbo in 3D or Katie Holmes!
Dr Organic Snail Gel is available at Holland and Barrett for £19.99 50ml.

Would love to know how you got on with this in the end.
It’s a really nice product. Very hydrating. Not still using it though because I had to move on! x
