The packaging

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous this year. Diptyque has gone for an enchanted forest theme, with the calendar designed by French artist Jean-Simon Roch. It comes in a beautifully illustrated, almost storybook-style box, with little woodland creatures and intricate golden details running across the design.

It has that lovely Diptyque feeling of being something you don’t immediately want to throw away once Christmas is over. The calendar is designed to be reused, with the drawers removable so the box can be used afterwards for storing whatever you fancy. It is also made using FSC-certified paper and card from sustainably managed forests.

And at 5.5kg, this is not a flimsy little Advent calendar. It feels like a proper luxury object before you’ve even opened a single drawer.
