Yippee! I LOVE Dior foundations. In fact, Dior Star was my favourite foundation launch of 2014. It’s beautiful. The next newbie? Get ready for Dior Diorskin Nude Air.

So this is Dior’s first serum foundation and you can be pretty sure that they have spent some time on getting this right. The Diorskin Nude Air collection (there’s also a loose powder and a tan powder) is all about creating a velvety, flawless complexion.

We have some interesting stuff going on here:

Diorskin Nude Air Trials

The big thing about this foundation seems to be its ability to let the skin breathe. In tests that 33 women took part in over 4 weeks, 100% said that they felt it let their skin breathe. Also:

  • 97% said the texture melts into the skin
  • 97% said application was quick and easy
  • 94% said it delivered a natural glow
  • 97% said it revived the freshness of the complexion
  • 97% said skin was instantly more homogeneous

I have shade 020 which is the shade I always have for Dior. I have a feeling that I may need to go lighter as the more I avoid the sun, the lighter my skin is getting and I pretty much avoid the sun 365 days a year!

The texture is super light and silky and it seems to disappear into the skin. I can’t wait to try it properly.

As you can see my skin is quite red because I just had an intensive Marste Derm treatment at the weekend.

As you can see, it covers the redness perfectly yet still looks like there’s no makeup. It feels like I have just applied a beautiful skincare product, like a super light serum-oil that makes skin soft, smooth and silky. It doesn’t feel like makeup at all.

Here it is with a light dusting of powder and then the brand new Diorskin Nude Air Tan Powder in 002 (more on that very soon):

I really like this. It is very liquidy so you need to be quick before it runs away, which did at first put me off, but the finish is so beautiful that it really didn’t matter. It melts into the skin and the liquid disappears leaving invisible coverage and a soft dewy finish.

  • 33 women! This is the thing, I have spent a JOKE amount on foundations this year alone, I have like, six draws full of them, and I am always taken in by these claims, and it’s my fault for hating my face so wanting the dream foundation, but when will these companies start letting a reasonable amount of human beings test the product! They’re rich, it makes no sense. I really want to understand so much!

    • they are so different that it is hard to compare. Dior is super runny, whereas Narsis liquidy but thickens up as you shake it. Dior feels like serum, Nars is weightless – does that help?

      I think the Nars is fuller coverage – more like a foundation look than the Dior which disappears. Let me know if you have more questions!

      • I’m sorry I wrote the foundation wrong! My doubt is about Ysl Ink Foundation. It seems similar to dior for me. I want to buy one of them. But I don’t know which one.

        • they are pretty similar – I think the Dior feels more like skin care and makes my skin feel much softer than the YSL. The coverage is pretty similar though. I *think* I prefer the Dior x

  • I’m interested to know how this compares to Armani Maestro Fusion. I love the weightless feel of the Armani initially but find it drying on my skin.

  • Thank you for all these great and up to date reviews! Love your blog! I would like to ask you how would you compare the Dior Air Foundation to the Armani Maestro one? Because i have only tried the Armani and found it a bit drying and it didn’t set very well! But then again i didn’t have the chance to apply it myself ( the MA of Armani did the application on me). Maybe during the summer it would be good, though! I don’t know.. Thank you

    • Thanks so much! This has a completely different feel to Maestro. I never got on with that one. It isn’t drying – it’s actually feels very nourishing like you’re wearing a good quality serum. I do need to powder the T zone. Hope that helps!
