MUA Custom Colour Foundation Mixers – Customise Your Foundation

There is no denying that the world is going mad for customisable makeup. I’m not talking about adding your initials to the packaging, or customising the compact – instead I’m talking about actually customising the product inside the packet. With a whole host of high end brands creating colour adjusting drops, it was only a matter of time before the high street followed suit. I’ve been putting the MUA Custom Colour Foundation Mixers through their paces. Find them here

It’s fantastic news for anyone who struggles to find their perfect foundation shade as this means that you can take an off the shelf foundation and tweak it until it feels perfect. MUA are the latest high street brand to join in the fun, with their Custom Colour Foundation Mixer. The mixers arrive in simple black tubes, which are completely opaque, except for a little line around the middle, which lets the colour of the product shine through. The rest of the tube is finished with simple white writing, which tells you about the product inside.

There are four shades in total: Deepening Dark, Deepening Medium, Lightening Cool and Lightening Warm. Together the four shades can transform any ill-fitting foundation shade, to something that perfectly suits your skintone. To use the drops, you simply apply a few drops of the chosen colour to your existing foundation.

I simply add one pump of foundation on the back of my hand, drop in the Foundation Mixer and mix it together with your brush. You’ll see that the foundation shade changes instantly – either use one shade to make the change, or make use of two or three for more complex colour mixing. You then simply apply your foundation as normal – the only difference being that the colour is now a perfect match.

I’ve swatched the four shades for you above, from bottom to top we have: Deepening Dark, Deepening Medium, Lightening Cool and Lightening Warm. You can see that all the shades are pure shade adjusters, I’d love to see MUA expand their range in the future to include more highlighter or shimmer hues.
