Well I was so excited to try this new kid on the dry shampoo block from Ruth Crilly of a Model Recommends. Sheer and invisible?! When it comes to hair products and hair styling, those words speak deep into the core of my beauty-obsessed self! This is what we need! Colab Dry Shampoo is Ruth’s creation to answer all the prayers of those of us who haven’t quite found the right product to refresh and revive. Here it is!

I mentioned these products in my Beauty News video but I wanted to show you up close and personal.
Now, call me biased, but I love Ruth, so I loved Colab Dry Shampoo before I even tried it. Mainly because I just know that Ruth wouldn’t launch a new product unless she really believed in it.
Let’s face it. Dry shampoo has become a modern day miracle and must-have, and Colab Dry Shampoo seriously does tick all the boxes.
As someone that very rarely gets greasy hair (it just gets dryer!) I use dry shampoos for styling rather than oily root rescue – so I thought I’d give you a little demo of how I have been using it.
Colab Dry Shampoo – Before
I created this half up-do recently and then curled the lengths of the hair.

However, I wanted to create much more volume in the roots and mid-lengths, as often with the weight long hair, things can get a little flat on top.
I shook the can vigrously (vital for all products of this kind) and sprayed it into the roots and upper portions…

I gave it a little gentle backcomb…

And everything became a whole lot bouncier!
Colab Dry Shampoo – After

Because my hair is heavy, I often need to use a product to set back-combed areas. I really prefer this to hairspray because there’s no sticky finish or crsipy look. As Ruth says, it’s sheer and invisible.
What I really love it that it doesn’t change the appearance of the actual surface of the hair like many dry shampoos and texturisers that tend to mattify the look. Don’t get me wrong, I like a bit of a matte, texturise finish every now and then, but I always go back to a sheeny, glossy look.
With Colab Dry Shampoo you don’t lose any of that shine or lustre of just-washed hair, it just gains a whole lot more guts and substance. What more could you ask for?
There are 5 different fragrances in the line up, and each is dedicated to a city that Ruth has either lived or worked in as a model I like that. I have been using Rio which smells amazing!
They are really great value too – £1.99 for 50ml and £2.49 for 100ml – and they are even more of a bargain right now because Superdrug has them on offer with a third off. You can’t beat that.
Congratulations on a fabulous product Ruth!
