Coats Skincare Review UK

I was recently introduced to this skincare newness and it’s all about repairing and preventing skin barrier damage. Here’s what you need to know about the Coats Skincare collection.

What is Coats Skincare?

Coats Skincare has a really simple collection of products and all of them are clinically proven to provide day-long hydration, help prevent breakouts and protect the skin barrier.

The concise collection includes everything you need for a three step routine:

  • Gentle Hydrating Cleanser £20
  • Hydrating Toning Milk £22
  • Triple Moisture Water Cream £25

Coats has partnered with the Skin Health Alliance which is an independent industry body of dermatologists and experts in skin. They work with Coats to review and approve their clinically proven formulas and make sure they have a positive impact on skin health.

All the packaging used is recycled and the labelling is very clear and easy to understand.

Coats Gentle Hydrating Cleanser Review

This is a lovely light, non-foaming, pH balanced gel cleanser that delivers a very soft and gentle lather.

Designed to hydrate and clarify the complexion, the formula contains a blend of Niacinamide and surfactants to get off makeup and lift away impurities and excess sebum. All while respecting the delicate balance of the skin barrier. Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides and Glycerin work to hydrate and strengthen the skin.

The light texture of this gel cleanser make this a perfect morning cleanse for me and it feels gentle and hydrating and leaves my skin feeling clean and not stripped.

If you’re a double cleanser at night, this works really well as a second cleanse after using an oil or balm to remove your makeup.

Coats Hydrating Toning Milk Review

Coats Gentle Hydrating Milky Toner
Coats Gentle Hydrating Milky Toner

This is a really interesting product and potentially my favourite from the collection, although I am quite partial to the Water Cream too (more on that shortly).

This is almost a hybrid of an alcohol free toner and a moisturiser, and while it has a different texture, with a less ‘oily’ finish, it does gently remind me of the Kiehl’s Daily Refining Milk Peel Toner which I am quite a fan of.

The Coats formula is designed to very gently exfoliate the skin whilst infusing it with hydration. It uses a blend of Niacinamide and Mandelic Acid to lightly resurface and clear the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides and Glucotane draw and bind moisture into the skin to further prevent irritation from the exfoliation and support the skin barrier. There’s also Vitamins C and E for antioxidant protection.

This has a lovely light gel texture, probably thicker than you’d expect from a toner, but this is what makes me like it so much. You can squeeze some of the milky-gel onto a cotton pad and swipe it over your skin after cleansing, or simply press it on to your skin.

It feels lovely and smoothing and hydrating, and is an ideal prep for moisturier.

Coats Triple Moisture Water Cream Review

This is a lovely moisturiser if you are looking for something that will provide lots of hydration in a lovely light, glow boosting texture. It feels super fresh and cooling as you apply it, and it sinks in beautifully without leaving skin feeling sticky or greasy.

It contains Squalane, Polyglutamic Acid for hydration and moisturisation and also Ceramides and a Tripeptides to defend the skin barrier and also boost collagen and elastin.

This is great under makeup as it sinks in really quickly and provides lovely long lasting hydration.

I’m told that the brand are also working on an SPF product which they consider to be the final requirement in this simple routine. Stay tuned for news on that.
