We all know that Boots UK is a bit of a British institution and quite the High Street destination for any beauty junkie, whether you like budget or high end products. Boots spend a lot of time getting to know their customers and understand that a lot of them have skin concerns and insecurities about their complexions. I have been working with Boots UK skincare to develop my own personalised skincare regime and find the right products for my skin type and issues. The things I worry about are fine lines and wrinkles and enlarged pores and I have been testing out a selection of products for two weeks that address those issues. Here are the details.

Skincare is a very personal thing. Every skin type is unique and so having discussed my skin and what I want my products to deliver, Boots created a personalised regime for me which consisted of a range of products to care for, treat and pamper my complexion. The products span several brands and price points and all work beautifully together.

Boots UK Skincare – My Bespoke Routine

I have been testing out a full regime from cleansing, to masks to moisturisers. This is my bespoke regime:

Please don’t be overwhelmed by the amount of product! Two of them are for giving your skin the perfect cleanse before you go on to pamper and treat. And four of them are a bit of effective and fun mask action when you fancy it! You can mix and match depending on how your skin is feeling.

Boots UK Skincare – Cleansing

For me, cleansing is the most important step in my routine because if your skin is clean and fresh, all the other products are able to do their job. I am obsessed with cleansing balms and Clinique Take the Day off is one of the most beautiful ones out there. It’s a super luxurious experience and melts into the skin, dissolving makeup and impurities and leaving skin soft, calm and feeling nourished. I love it because it never leaves a tight feeling.

Before I go in with this, I like to remove the bulk of my makeup and the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for sensitive and combination skin is great for this. A few soaked cotton pads quickly and easily wipe off all the makeup allowing the cleansing balm to do the job of a serious yet gentle deep clean without too much makeup in the way.

Boots UK Skincare – Masks

I have a bit of a mask obsession because if you find the right ones, you can achieve instant improvements in your skin with little effort. Multi-masking is still a huge trend in the beauty industry and it really makes sense because if you have combination skin like me, different areas of your face require different things.

I use the three brilliant L’Oreal Paris Clay masks all together for the best results. They each use a blend of three clays to treat and pamper the skin. I use the Detox one over my chin and nose where I find I have enlarged pores that can become clogged. Then I use the Purity one over my forehead and on the enlarged pores on my cheeks to combat shine and purify the skin. Finally, I use the Glow mask to soften and brighten everywhere else on my face. I think that one might be my favourite! By the way, look out for Face Wash versions of all three masks which are brand new!

Every couple of weeks I like to use something a bit more intense and the Masque Bar Luminizing Charcoal Peel Off Mask is great. True to my multi-masking style, I only use this on the T-zone where my skin needs it and it’s brilliant for really drawing out dirt and oil. Also, it has been reformulated so it’s a lot easier to remove than it used to be.

Boots UK Skincare – Serum, Moisturiser & Eye

I have been using three products morning and night for the last two weeks and have been really enjoying the combination. I start with the Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher as my serum and this really helps to smooth out my skin’s texture, promote the natural renewal process and generally shrink my pores. I used to use this serum a while back and I had forgotten how excellent it is!

Next I apply my moisturiser which has been the Vichy LiftActiv Supreme for Normal/Combination Skin. This sinks into my skin beautifully and works as well as a night cream as it does for day. It makes the perfect base for makeup as it’s nourishing, radiance boosting and instantly improves the look of lines and firmness of the skin. It’s fab.

I wouldn’t be without eye cream ever and the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense ADVANCED Eye Cream is one of my all time favourites. It is packed with peptides and antioxidants and works extremely effectively on wrinkles, darkness and puffiness. It is also excellent for applying over makeup during the day if your skin starts looking a little dehydrated. It is super light and softly skin tone-tinted so it blends seamlessly into the skin. I have been carrying it with me everywhere I go and it’s not the first time I have obsessed over this product.

I have been absolutely loving this routine and I really like how it is tailored to my different concerns. My lines are looking softer and my pores are definitely less gaping! They will, of course, never disappear but they are certainly less obvious!
