Having grown up in a hot and humid country, mud masks were a regular part of my beauty regime during my teenage years. I had easy access to organic Fuller’s Earth in a country that’s famous for it and it was the best thing ever.
Although it did not help my acne, it still cleaned up my skin and made me feel so good. I love the smell of earth.

Many people think acne only occurs due to bacteria, impurities and clogged pores. I stopped believing that when I was 17. It happens mainly because of hormones and genetics in my opinion. I embraced my acne very early in life and it was the best thing I ever did. I feel stressing about it and covering it with foundations and concealers actually makes things worse.

When you use beauty products, try to only use them for their cleansing and relaxing properties. Be comfortable in your own skin if you can, although I know it can be hard.

I received the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask from The Body Shop.

My Thoughts On The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask has a lovely smell that can help you relax. I found it made my eyes water because of the fumes, so don’t use it around your eyes. I personally think it will be more effective if used after a shower when your pores open up due to steam. In general, I think it’s very relaxing but does less for the skin than I might have hoped.

My Thought on Mud Masks In General

I found that this mask did clean my skin but unfortunately there was no glow as it claims and also it didn’t make any difference to the pores. I was a bit disappointed by that. I did find it very relaxing though and for me the smell is very important so it’s a benefit that it made me feel very relaxed, I loved the smell.

I personally think mud masks should only be used if you have drastically oily skin or if you live in a hot and humid country where your skin can be naturally moisturised. If you have oily skin so still love using mud masks living in a cold country like Britain, you must keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water and fluids. Anything that can suck moisture out of your skin can dehydrate it, so make sure you keep yourself hydrated.

My skin type has changed from very oily to normal-dry in the last 9 years since moving to the UK so I would personally use it only once in a while, most probably only in summer. Find The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask to order online here
