So you guessed it. This mascara is all about that all-important eye opening curl and if this lives up to the hype, you could well be ditching those eyelash curlers in a most unceremonious manner!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review

Although I have quite straight lashes, and really should curl them, I have always seen eyelash curlers as implements of  torture. In spite the many times I have tried, I have never managed to use them 2 days running. I could never make them a habit. And now I will never need to! Excited?

So what’s new? I’ll tell you…it’s all in the hooks! OK let me explain. Benefit Roller Lash mascara is 100% inspired by curling hair with hair rollers. Say what?!

It even has a hair roller-esque lid. LOVE IT.

The magic of Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is all in the very new, very special and very different brush – the Hook n Roll brush. This brush lifts and curls the lashes as it applies the product with the help of tiny hooks strategically placed to grab the lashes right from the root, give them a gentle tug, and curl them right up towards your eyebrows. It’s almost magical!

I am hoping you can see the hooks in the photo above, but just in case, here is Benefit’s illustration of the clever design:

Now the next bit of magic is in the formula. The brush does the lifting and curling and then  the 12 hour curve-setting formula does exactly that, sets those curled lashes in place for 12 hours. Oh yes!

  • 12 hour setting power
  • Inky black shade
  • Lash conditioning ingredients
  • Easy to remove

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Before & After Photos

So bascially I absolutely love this mascara. One of the first times I wore it, I had no other makeup on at all and my boyfriend commented just out of the blue “your eyes look pretty”! I was like – “job done!”.

Before:

As you apply Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, you feel a gentle tug as it visibly lifts the lashes – it’s quite fun to watch up close! This is one very light coating. The lashes curl up immediately.

This is where you start to add a bit of drama, and the eyes open up even more.

Here’s both eyes done:

My lashes practically touch my eyebrows! And what you can’t really appreciate in this picture is the curl. I found this quite a hard photo to take and it doesn’t really do the curl justice, but I think it gives you a good idea.

Sorry about my eyebrows!!! I need the Benefit brow bar!

Now to be fair, with a bit of manipulation and persuasion with a normal mascara brush, I can get my lashes to curl but the problem is, they drop pretty quickly. A bit like when you walk out of the salon with bouncy waves and then an hour later the magic has gone!

With Benefit Roller Lash Mascara the setting claim is spot on. The brush curls my lashes and then the formula sets them there for the whole day. It’s very impressive and I always admire this as I take it off before bed and wash away the curl.

Where to buy?

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is £25.50 and is available at these links below:

  • I am beyond excited. I feel silly saying that about a mascara haha but I HATE eyelash curlers, I’m a bit scared of them (i.e. paranoid about catching my eyelid/ripping out my lashes eeek!) so this sounds amazingggg! I really like They’re Real already so will definitely be giving this a try – your lashes look unbelievable! 😀 x

  • This review of yours really makes me wanna buy the mascara. It looks like you have eyeliner one and it’s just your fabulous lashes!
I can’t wait to buy it!

  • Hi Ree,

I’m about to run out of my current favorite mascara, Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Infinite. Since you’ve also tried that mascara, would you mind comparing the two for me?

    • I think they are both brilliant. I think perhaps the EL is more volumising but the Benefit is more curling.

I think that Benefit is worth a try just because the brush technology is so different!
